I stopped by on Bosses Day in October, 2013 and arrived early. I set in my car in the parking lot way past their opening time and finally called the phone number on the door and left a message asking if they are still in business or closed and asked that someone call me back with their operating hours or days. NEVER DID I RECEIVE A PHONE CALL!
I inquired with some local residents who stated the owner must operate this as a "hobby" and if he feels like making donuts and opening, he does, and if he doesn't feel like making any donuts, he doesn't bother to open. That's sad that someone that has such delicious donuts (I probably had one about two years ago - probably last time they were open!) would either find staff to operate the business or shut the doors permanently. Nothing so irresponsible as putting sandwich board signs in front and then be open "when you feel like it". I was also told that he'll make small numbers of donuts and when they're sold, he's done for the day.
I believe if you are going to open a business, you should either run it or find staff to operate it and put your everything into it. If you don't intend to open except when the mood strikes you, then close the doors permanently or sell the place to someone who really cares about customers and serving them. But guess you can get tax write-offs whether you're open or not. I'd love to see this business open and running daily with their quality donuts rather than having to go buy some at a grocery store that do not compare to a fresh bakery donut!
