Having dated a girl in Oberlin 40+ years ago, we both knew there wasn't anywhere good to eat. Of course, we were college kids at the time, so we couldn't have afforded a good place anyway. But now the Black River Cafe provides truly excellent food, with helpful service and good prices. That girl (now my wife) and I celebrated our 38th anniversary at Black River recently, while we were visiting Oberlin during a reunion weekend. The roasted beet salad was great, as was a very creamy and rich mushroom soup. We had the pasta special, porcini and fontina stuffed ravioli in a Bolognese meat sauce. What wonderful flavors!
