Finally checked out the new Hard Rock Rocksino between Cleveland and Akron, a half-hour drive from the Cleveland Downtown Hard-Rock Cafe.

Pulling up to the valet drop-off at night gives the patron the sensation he's entering a Las Vegas hot-spot. All the trimmings of Hard Rock's main casino are there, complete with display windows of genuine costumes and band paraphernalia from some of the Hall-of-famers. Even the door handles are shaped like guitars.

The vista of all the latest slots go as far as the eye can see, with a sky-scape of artistic light designs above. The eateries include a nice sandwich shop, a signature steakhouse that I'll never be able to afford, the de rigueur mammoth buffet and one of the nicest Hard Rock cafes I've seen, complete with a live performance stage with tables and bars surrounding it.

The establishment also has a full arena for Vegas style rock shows,

Hard Rock wisely calls this place a "Rocksino," because, unlike a full casino, this is a "racino," a recently coined term for race tracks that have been allowed to expand their gaming options to slots but not card or table games. Although the Hard Rock Rocksino lacks table and card games, it does have a full, vibrant harness racing track with an original Cleveland Casino attached to it, making up a Vegas complex. I hear a genuine Hard Rock Hotel is in the works, making it even more so.

Mind you, unlike Cleveland's four-level (Caesar's) Horseshoe Casino, which directly connects to Cleveland's growing downtown nightlife scene (including a nearby Hardrock Cafe) and is on top of a subway station, the Hardrock Rocksino is a distinct destination unto itself.

Now, if only Tripadvisor can get its act together and properly link this place to Cleveland and Akron establishments rather than let it stand by itself as a clearly suburban Northfield entity ... (Tripadvisor has inadvertently allowed two identical links of the same Rocksino place, and neither of them appear when clicking on Cleveland or Akron attractions.)

This is a little casino in NE Ohio. 18 bucks for 2 jack n cokes served in plastic glasses. Ridiculous . Good luck selling 2 jacks for the price of a bottle in NE Ohio. My wife and I are older slot players. At our age we have free money to frequent the area casinos and play our favorite slots. I don't expect to always win but I do expect to see somebody win over the course of the afternoon and evening . It was the first Saturday since their opening and it was busy and the machines were getting a lot of play. We saw little ir no winning at all and heard a lot of complaining .Not a good first impression for most. We did enjoy the buffet but not enough to return for that alone. Coming from the Canton, Oh area , there are now a number of choices in every direction for gambling entertainment. We will go elsewhere .

Thank you for your feedback. We've had a lot of excitement and winners- I'm sorry you didn't get to experience that! Your comments regarding the price of alcohol are taken seriously, I understand that's an important aspect of gaming for you and that it made your experience less satisfying. I will be forwarding your comments to Food and Beverage. Thank you again for the comments. Good luck to you, wherever your gaming takes you!

The Hard Rock Rocksino in Northfield has something for everybody. You can play the slots, experience up close live entertainment, enjoy a lively multiple bar scene, view one-of-a-kind memorabilia, spot local and national celebrities, attend a unique concert venue, and of course find a lot of really good food prepared by real chefs. There is plenty of free parking, great service from corner to corner, and don't forget the cool gift shop. This is fun for all ages 21 and up. Can't wait to go back!

This casino officially opens tomorrow, but I went to a soft opening last night. The decor is beautiful! The people who work there are so friendly, from the valet who went out of his way to push my wheelchair all the way into the casino from the car to the waitresses. What a great experience! Very roomy and spacious, you don't feel crowded in there and the place was packed when we went. So colorful. Just can't say enough good things about this new venue. Can't wait for the concerts and comedy club to get started! Was a little hard getting a drink but when I did they were priced very reasonable and were good size! Didn't get to try the food, too many lines and too hard to navigate a wheelchair through the ropes! But a great experience!!
