Cherry Valley Lodge is a nice place to stay but we probably won't stay there again. We stayed there for two nights back in late May of 2018. Paid by credit card and left. On August 24 my credit card was billed again without any approval or notification from Cherry Valley Lodge. Almost 3 months to the day. Took 5 phone calls attempting to talk with someone in their billing department, and no return calls or correspondence from them. Finally I notified my bank that my credit card was being used by them without authorization from me. I called and notified the front desk who finally got someone in accounting to talk with me. It appears this is a practice they use to bill extras. I probably will not stay here again.

We cancelled our reservation the day of check-in because of the situation described below in my email to the Lodge. On 8/10 I sent what I believe to be a very tactful email asking for an explanation and never received a response. A few days later I received an email from Cherry Valley Lodge asking how my stay was. Obviously they didn't know we didn't stay. I tried to email my complaint to the address that sent the email (frontdesk@cherryvalleylodge.com) and it was returned as undeliverable.
Below is the email I sent to lganger@cherryvalleylodge.com. I hope that this review gets their attention.

Hi,

I want to tell you about why we cancelled our reservation for 8/3 - 8/5 on the day of check-in. Confirmation # XXXXXXXX.

We booked a Courtyard View King Room. We were given room 213. Upon opening the door we were hit with a strong odor of paint, turpentine or cleaning fluids. On top of that there was a repair or cleaning cart in the room. Okay mistakes happen. We went back to the front desk and the woman gave us 215. We went to the balcony and it was not very appealing and the view of the pond was blocked by trees. Also we now noticed the room was tiny and dark. We also didn't like the layout. At this point we decided to just cancel the stay.

Upon arriving home I reread the confirmation email and it states that the room we booked has a king size bed and a sleeper sofa. When I went to your website to see what the room should look like the picture for all the rooms were exactly alike (the picture would not appear in the review, see the website) and the rooms we saw didn't look anything like the picture. The website also stated that the room accommodates 6 people. There is no way that rooms 213 or 215 would hold that many people. I felt a bit of claustrophobic and it was just the 2 of us.

I am not upset because our plans didn't turn out. I am upset because it seems that either we were not given the type of room described in our confirmation or that your website is just deceptive.

I would like an explanation.

Here right now fir Mopar Racing event and big difference from last time we were here! Management picking up trash, welcome party with music and happy hour! Friendly front desk and happy employees who seem to get it now! Glad to see the changes! We’ll be back!

This hotel has a sign that says it about to start a multi million dollar renovation. The lobby is beautiful with hard woods throughout. The room we had was in need of some updates, the carpet was old and the bathroom needed redone. I'm glad I found the spider in the sink before my wife did or we would have been going to another hotel. The room was quiet enough but very far from the lobby, we checked in after 10pm and the lobby is the only entrance accessible after that time. The parking lots were not well lit, something I wasn't expecting for as large of a hotel as it was. I'm sure after the updates are complete this lodge will return to the standards it once held.

We booked this place with the water park in mind. Got here and found out it was closed down in November 2017. Trip advisor needs to remove the pictures IMO.

There is a pool & hot tub and that will work. Rooms are spacious and nice enough for the price.
