I have mixed emotions about this hotel. The outside grounds are absolutely beautiful with a pond and wooded area. Plenty of outside patio area for groups to gather. Our large group sat outside every evening (3 nights). A family of racoons even joined us on the patio. The lobby, restaurant and bar are also very nice. And the staff was probably the friendliest and most helpful of any hotels I've ever been to. However, the hallways and rooms are in dire need of renovation. Rooms have a musty smell. My room had large wrinkles in the carpeting and peeling wallpaper. Beds are very soft and bouncy, like having old style box springs under the mattress (very uncomfortable). The rooms have high wing backed Victorian chairs (and I think some of them may actually be from that era). I was on the second floor and had a balcony. The room is "L" shaped with each bed at the far ends of the "L" and the tv on an island in the middle of the room (thus my title of Quirky). The balcony was wood which looked rotten and all of the paint had peeled off of it years ago. We were told all of the rooms are going to start getting renovated. Until renovated, I probably would not stay here again.

We were hesitant to stay at Cherry Valley Lodge based on some of the reviews, but I'm glad we decided to give it a chance. The hotel staff was very nice and the room was very clean and comfortable. While it is a little dated they had a sign up that they're soon starting a major renovation. Would recommend the hotel to anyone staying in the area.

I've stayed here a few times and plan to stay again in the next couple of weeks. Every member of the staff that I have met has been very kind and professional. The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms are gigantic! I particularly like the ground level so that we could enjoy the outside just as much as the inside. Beautiful place!

We (3 couples) have no complaints. The price is right, impressed with the employees, very clean facility, lots of convenient parking. Loved our room...I am sure the improvements will make it one of the best in Ohio. We would be glad to go back there just the way it is.

Room tip: Ask for room #122, nice view and quiet...

Last minute decision to travel meant we had to find a dog friendly hotel. Front desk was super helpful and nice at late night check in. D area door does not require swipe card to enter like the signs say. Rooms need updated but aside from the old mattress it fit our needs. Clean and generous on space. Smoking smell throughout the night.Called front desk and was assured the whole hotel was nonsmoking. Come to find out the laundry area was right by our room. Pool/ Hot tub great, outside patio nice. We ate on the restaurant patio due to having a dog with us. Generous Sunday brunch menu and our waiter was friendly and efficient once he found out "heidi" who was MIA didn't come to our table. Outside grounds are wonderful, so many plants and nice areas to sit. Front desk in morning near fireplaces/bar are had odd repulsive sour smell. All in all a great job updating a huge space. From the pictures the renovated rooms look nice. Hopefully little by little the place can be restored. Kids had a great time and didn't miss the water park FYI pet fee was $25 non refundable
