Stayed here on business trip for 4 nights during Ramadhan period. It was nice and pleasant stay at the hotel, but the one thing that will make me recommend this hotel is their excellent service although we've check out. I accidentaly left clothes on the hotel and just realized when I'm already in Jakarta. I called the hotel and they extremely helpfull, and even send the goods to Jakarta. Many hotels offered excellent services during your stay, but hotel with excellent service even when you have check-out? Royal Ambarrukmo definetly one of them

In many ways, this is a wonderful hotel in Yogya, with a superb royal history. The staff are welcoming, professional, polite and helpful, doing all that they can to support the guests. The hotel has very good facilities and is well-placed near the Ambarrukmo Plaza, a convenient and glamorous shopping mall, which includes many shops. There are also some internal souvenir, clothing and other tourist shops on the hotel ground floor. Hotel rooms are generously proportioned, light and clean, with good balconies and bathrooms. An excellent breakfast is available every day, with cooked food as well as fruit, salads and many varieties of cakes, pastries, toast, cereals, etc. There is a good swimming pool and wifi works well. One thing I would warn against, though, is brushing your teeth with local tap water at the hotel (free bottles of water are supplied in your room every day by the hotel) or eating fresh salads if you are susceptible to 'Indonesian tummy' - I did not realise this and had the runs quite badly (!) A local tip given to me was that having a little alcohol seems to help to kill the bugs, however. Drinks with alcohol are not routinely available in Indonesia, though, so you might want to bring your own duty free - also make sure you have access to rehydration drinks, glucose drinks or coca cola, etc., in case you do get a tummy bug (hopefully not). If you can avoid that hazard, however, this is a really wonderful hotel, which is very comfortable with helpful service.

Room Tip: Try to get a balcony room overlooking the pool.

Great hotel in Yogya. Spacious rooms, lovely staff and great surrounds. Pak Heru and his staff did more than asked for and made my stay a pleasure. Family friendly hotel with great facilities to make your stay very comfortable.

Room Tip: Face the pool for better view and ambiance.

Stayed there for one night but the impression lasted longer than that. The lobby was so inviting. Airy, clean, and smelled so good. Checked-in was a breeze and I was given the 7th floor Deluxe Balcony Room, which felt modern, spacious, and so inviting. The history behind the hotel itself was interesting dated back to the 18th century land owned by the Sultan of Yogyakarta. The garden was so neatly cared for and beautiful. And, Ambarrukmo Plaza is just conveniently short walking away from the hotel with all the shops and many kind of food outlets you can choose. Breakfast was memorable! All the menu you can choose for and the soothing sound of gending, Javanese traditional music accompanying your breakfast. Will come back here again for a longer period stay, hopefully.

Room Tip: 7th floor Deluxe Balcony Room

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. First of all we noticed a great smell when we stepped into the hotel, we felt welcomed straight away. Check in was painless & the staff was very helpful. The room itself is clean, spacious & comfortable. Best of all was the breakfast, there were so many varieties of food, even after 3 days I still yet to try everything. Swimming pool was clean and there was a fish pond near the swimming pool with hungry fish ready to be fed. Plaza Ambarrukmo is just next door, a handy place to go to buy your necessities or for meals and last minute shopping. Overall a pleasant stay at a nice city.

Stayed here for a night on Deluxe Balcony room 726. The room itself is spacious and have lot of power plugs which is good for you gadget-freak, though you have to bring your own converter if your electronics not use Indonesian standard socket (German "Schuko" Type F). The bed is nice and I like the pillow so much. The view of balcony is very nice (pool and garden view).

As I mentioned on the tittle, the big plus of this hotel is the outdoor facility. It has child pool and adult pool (120 cm depth) which quite unique and nice for swimming. The garden is very nice with some mini "pendopo" scattered around the garden, birds sound (speaker), nice fish pond, and child playground, which really makes you relief to walk there after the breakfast or swimming session. The big "pendopo" next to hotel building also magnificent, really gave you the picture of Yogyakarta.

The food is so so, but they offered many kind of menu (Japanese, Chinese, European, Indonesian). And they gave us "gamelan" performance during our breakfast, really good Javanese Atmosphere.

Ambarrukmo Plaza which located next to this hotel also a big plus for buying some daily needs or watching the movie. I watched "How to Train Your Dragon 2" that time. LOL

When I stay there, I have a little bit problem with water heater, it's not work perfectly and don't like it. The door handle of balcony area in my room also need to be fixed I think, it's shaky.

The hotel has been refurbished but still has a pleasant feeling. Greeted with smile at the lobby and checked-in was swift with cold refreshing towel provided. The room expected to be as great as the service but very plain and minimalist, totally disappointing because it doesn't highlight the heritage of the building and very 4stars materials. However, the room kept very clean with 32" LG LCD TV. Given 5stars, bathroom only has shower and no bathtub with basic amenities. This hotel definitely excels in their service and breakfast aspects. Breakfast was ultra busy and offering excellent choice of dishes - from traditional gudeg, Japanese sushi, Chinese dim sum, Western potato wedges and surprisingly, pork bacon. Location becomes an advantage: 5mins to the mall, 10mins to the airport and only 25mins to Prambanan temple. Talking about the service, would like to praise the restaurant staffs, especially "Ira" as very delight and professional in serving the guests.

Room Tip: Room 630 and 623 are facing nice pool.
