I had a great experience staying this hotel, you will be happy to know that there is few minutes’ drive to reach at Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta Resort & Spa from the airport. Entire ambience was outstanding, comb and quiet. Wide outside view from the window, in the sunny morning you would have been seen the volcano rock known locally as Maraphy. The most attractive side is the ethnic swimming pool. Architecture of this resort is very unique & attractive. Spa consists of full facilities with traditional touch. A part from this I like the foods I have eaten there including the Asian recipes, western – continental item was very delicious. I love to be there once again obviously to enjoy my holidays, because from the reception personnel to the General Manager shown their high standard hospitality beginning to end. Even though they surprised me to welcome & take care of me by my name.

The views to mount Merapi are great, but if you want to enjoy them from your room, you will have to ask for one with pool view and on floors 5-6 (lobby is in the 7th floor). I slept in 5 different hotels in Indonesia during this trip, all 5star rated, and the staff in Sheraton were the most welcoming and helpful, really made our stay very pleasant. We found breakfast quite good, and dinner in the same restaurant was beyond my expectations. Either I cannot agree with previous reviews or food has improved a lot over the past months. Rooms are big and confortable, although the bathrooms and floors need some renovation. The 4th floor however needs a complete refurbishig, smelled musty and humid. We asked for a room on the fifth floor and was no problem. The spa is big and quite complete, was beautifully decorated with flowers. Neverheless, when the jacuzzi and indoor pools are so dirty, you don't want to stay long. Also the pool outside needs a bit more attention. Overall, a nice stay, but looks like some parts of the hotel are a bit forgotten...

Thank you for your stay and review on Trip Advisor. We noted your comments on jacuzzi, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, despite regular maintenance was undertaken. We do hope we still have opportunity to serve you again in the future.

Stayed there this past week for 3 nights... past experience 7 years ago was mediocre. Because of its location, we came back again - to a fully redesigned, upgraded property. The rooms are still very fresh and new since reopening a couple of years ago. I was given the usual room suite upgrades. A very pleasant stay indeed, strongly recommended to all considering a visit to central Java.

Let's get the only downside out of the way: this Sheraton is not very central, although it is convenient to the airport. Otherwise, everything about this Sheraton is great. The rooms are luxurious, with comfy beds and spacious bathrooms. The hotel bar serves great food and well-mixed cocktails. On certain nights, Hugo's nightclub provides live entertainment that's a perfect introduction to the Yogyakarta nightlife scene. The staff are helpful well above the call of duty: we needed to send a parcel home, and the hotel driver took us to three separate postal services and assisted us with negotitations.

We stayed here because we could use Starwood points and we would only be in Yogy long enough to see the major sights so couldn't turn down a free hotel stay for such a short visit. We were pleasantly surprised. The service was fantastic. They were incredibly attentive and cheerful and accommodating, and even upgraded us to one of the nicest suites in the hotel even though we only used points for a basic room. This was simply because the trip overlapped with my birthday. Also, the location was right near the airport, which made it convenient for a quick visit to Yogy, which is all you need to see Borobudur, Prabanan and the Sultan's Palace. While we didn't have time to use it, the pool looked nice if you want to relax and cool down after sightseeing.

My only complaint was that the food was terrible, but we felt that way about all the food we had in Yogy so the hotel didn't exactly have any nearby competition. Overall, on the same trip we went to Singapore, Cambodia and Vietnam and Indonesia had by far the worst food on the trip. Everywhere else we dined was fantastic!

We had three nights at the Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta in late-March, staying in a lagoon-access junior suite (Room 101). Although the hotel is perhaps getting a little tired in places and due for a “freshen up”, the room was very tidy, well-maintained and had a great bed and a very good rainshower (although I think the other lagoon access rooms just have a standard shower).

What really sets the Sheraton Mustika apart is the outstanding service provided by all the staff. The staff at the Mustika clearly enjoy their jobs and every single person from front office to maintenance staff was friendly, happy to help and good at remembering our names. We both agreed that it really was the best level of service we had probably ever encountered and could easily think of any number of five-star hotels (and airlines!) that should send their staff to the Mustika for training.

We don’t really want to name names as everyone provided really tremendous service, but we would like to thank a few people in particular. Thank you very much to Andi and Aaz in the club lounge, who looked after us fantastically every evening during high tea, to Indraz in the restaurant at breakfast time and Insein on the front desk who very patiently helped us to organise our daytrip to the Borobudur and Prambanan temples. Our guide, Adianto, from Seta Tours and Travel, was also very good, with a very wide general knowledge and a good sense of humour. (My apologies to anyone if I’ve misspelt your names).

The courtesy shuttle to and from the airport is another good service, as is the shuttle into Jalan Malioboro in Yogya city centre (although it’s not a big deal, offering the return journey back from town would be a very helpful improvement).

Hopefully, the hotel management will arrange some refurbishments in the very near future to fully complement the great service from the staff. If you are going to Yogya, do yourself a favour and stay at the Sheraton Mustika – the staff will do their very best to look after you.

We thought we had chosen an airport hotel. The Sheraton Mustika is only 10 minutes from the airport, but is not a businessman's pass through. Rather we found an elegant, beautifully appointed hotel with the most beautiful swimming pool, helpful staff and excellent food. We wish we had chosen to stay there longer.
