“Good experience, will return!”

My husband and I were entertaining out-of-town family and decided to take the 2 hour drive to Ravenwood Castle. We had never been here before and weren't sure what to expect. We stayed in the Queen Victoria Room, and the others in the Queen Elizabeth Room. Our room was immaculate, bathroom was clean and well appointed with toiletries. It was a nice touch to have a balcony/porch. The innkeeper was such a nice man, made suggestions for dinner, and gave us detailed and welcoming instructions. There are lots and lots of board games available, which is great when you're "away from it all". Visitors should be aware that there is no Wi-Fi, no television, and cell phone service is rare. If you're looking for that "disconnect", then this is the place for you! The breakfast was good, standard continental fare.

Room Tip: First floor rooms have noise from rooms above.

I can't begin to describe just how great this place is. The castle is so beautiful inside and out, secluded and very relaxing. We stayed in Rapunzel's Suite, a gorgeous (and very clean!) room with a very comfortable bed...it also has a fireplace, air conditioner, and ceiling fan so the room is comfortable in any weather. The breakfasts were amazing (fresh fruit, cereals, muffins, and a hot dish...the Berry French Toast Bake was awesome). Everyone on the staff was beyond nice to us, Amanda suggested some great places in the area to visit (even printed maps for us) and Steve took time out of his schedule to play some games with us in the pub. We couldn't have asked for anything more...Ravenwood Castle is just all around amazing. We will definitely be staying there again!

I was one of the organizers of a Song of Ice & Fire/Game of Thrones-themed convention that took place at Ravenwood in April of this year, and I'm not sure I can possibly explain how awesome of an experience I had, both working with Jim & Steve from Ravenwood to book the convention there, and actually *at* the castle itself. If you are looking to hold an event for which a castle will be the perfect setting, as was the cast with us, I highly, highly suggest considering Ravenwood.

As for the stay itself - I had the Spinster Cottage, which technically sleeps 2-4 people (Queen bed upstairs and double futon downstairs; one full bathroom). However, this cottage is surprisingly spacious and could probably fit more like 6-8 people if you wanted to bring some air mattresses. Of course, then you'd have to share the bathroom with that many people as well ;) The Queen bed upstairs was extremely comfortable, as well.

Ravenwood is simply a beautiful setting, period. It's situated in the Hocking Hills and honestly my *only* complaint about the location is lack of both cell phone and internet service. While they are kind enough to allow guests to use their land line for free, as needed, because of why we were there it really would have been better for us to have some sort of access to the internet. However, this isn't the fault of Ravenwood or its proprietors, it's just the way things are in that area. If you're looking to really get away from it all, then hey, no cell service and internet would be perfect, right?

I would note/suggest that the castle/grounds/and cottages need more/bigger trash cans. If you're staying just one night, the trash cans in the cottages may be fine, but we stayed three nights and by the second night our tiny trash cans were overflowing (and there were no trash bags in the cottage to even switch them out).

Breakfast is a simple affair, consisting of one hot dish (one morning it was a sausage/pancake back; the other morning it was some sort of hash), two kinds of cereal, and fruit. There were also some large, yummy cinnamon rolls one morning, and of course coffee was available as well. Regardless, it's better than the pre-packaged type of breakfast food you get at major chain hotels that include this meal.

We had a catered dinner in the Great Hall one night and that was absolutely amazing. Everything was delicious and it was buffet-style with plenty of food.

All of the public areas were spotlessly clean for the entire weekend, which to be honest was probably no small feat considering we had the place booked solid with convention attendees.

I also wanted to mention that I loved the beer selection in the pub, as well as the very affordable prices considering it was all small-batch/fairly small-batch brewery beers (with the exception of Sam Adams, though at least that's still no Budweiser or Miller).

The employees - especially Jim, the owner - were extremely helpful and friendly. As organizer of this convention, I collected over 30 surveys (we had about 60 attendees) and they gave glowing reviews of Ravenwood. We've already started planning Ice & Fire Con 2014 at Ravenwood, for May 16-18 of next year!

My boyfriend and I stayed last Sunday and it was amazing!! I had bought a Living Social months ago and finally redeemed it. The process was easy and even tho they do not serve alcohol on Sundays we were allowed to take the bottle of wine home with us on Monday. The dinner was great, the staff was super friendly, and our cottage was perfect for 2!!

A group of friends and I have made it an annual tradition to rent the Yellow Gypsy Wagon at the castle, and every year our only complaint is that our trip couldn't last longer. The staff is better than professional - they're genuinely friendly. The atmosphere is cozy and casual with a side of epic. Rooms and bathing facilities are always clean and well kept. With themes like this (medieval, fantasy, etc.) there's always a fear of tacky plastic swords and a wanna-be artist's awful mural of princesses at a tea party on the wall. You will find none of that here. Every room and space is different, and it's all delightfully creative. Breakfast is served in the castle each morning, and it's always a treat. Seriously. Come for the food if nothing else. It's amazing.

Room Tip: I've stayed in the fairytale cottages once, and while they're a good place if you have torna...

We've just come home from the most amazing weekend trip! We had the pleasure of staying in the Candle Makers Cottage and everything about our stay was perfect!

The room was very clean and comfortable! All the staff I met were very pleasant and great to chat with. The grounds of the Castle were quiet and peaceful!!

We are eagerly looking forward to returning!!

Room Tip: Have dinner in the Great Hall on Friday & Saturday! Amazing!!!!

We had a wonderful, relaxing. peaceful stay in the Shakespeare Suite Thursday night to Friday. The room has a lovely sitting area, the bed was as comfy as could be, right in front of a toasty gas fireplace. We loved that the room had an outside entrance to a small patio--right near the giant chess board!

We had originally booked the King Arthur Suite, which is very cool--but the bath and the fireplace are both on the first floor and the giant bed is upstairs, so we asked to see other rooms and when Steve showed us the Shakespeare suite we were smitten. The only loss was that the King Arthur suite had a great small deck overlooking the grounds and the trees--that would have been lovely in the morning.

Overall, we loved the Shakespeare suite, though, and will book it again the next time we stay.
