“Wonderful suprise find in Monroe!”
Reviewed March 23, 2014

A friend of mine received an e-mail informing her of a wonderful special the Brandiwine Inn was offering.Because the owner is the chef, you must let them know in advance what you are ordering.

The restaurant building is from the 1850s and the decor looks dated. However, Doris the owner was wonderful welcoming us, telling us a little bit about the place and explaining that her husband is the chef and they use all fresh ingredients....nothing from boxes or cans.

We were three couples and we had ordered the petite beef Wellington or the Lobster Roll with seafood sauce. Salad and fresh hot rolls were included.I also had the mushroom appetizer and we enjoyed several of the dessert items.such as the raspberry tart, chocolate mousse, ice cream sundae with HOMEMADE French vanilla ice cream.

The service was very good and the nice white linen napkins added elegance to the experience.

I would recommend that you get on their email list.....as it is not open all day nor every day, but it was a wonderful overall experience, very reasonably priced for what you get, and a great find.

“Hidden Gem”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

Tucked away off the Main St in Monoe, not far from the Premium Outlet Mall, it was a surprise find to enjoy classic French preparation so close to home. The food and service are both top notch. Because the food is lovingly prepared by the Chef/Owner by himself, the guest need to be a little more patient than going to a chain restaurant. The hostess Doris, who is also an owner, is so warm and welcoming. It is a very intimate restaurant, perfect for birthday and anniversaries or any special occasion. Because the restaurant is only open on Friday and Saturday, you will have to plan ahead. Also, plse note the restaurant does take credit card, so don't forget to bring cast or check.

“Exquisite experience”
Reviewed November 24, 2011

Brandywine is an exquisite experience for those who long for a meal to be a culinary journey rather than just plates of food 'made to order'. A clearly passionate master chef and attentive front-of-house guide diners through a series of dishes of carefully blended and contrasted tastes and textures. We've been fortunate to be spoiled by some of the very best restaurants in the Midwest as well as on both coasts. Brandywine Inn takes it's place on their pedestal. An unmatched experience, not to be missed!

“Unfortunately, it is over priced for the quality of the food.”
Reviewed March 27, 2011

The atmosphere is good, but the food is average and the prices are very high for southern Ohio. We ordered filet mignons and were not asked how we wanted them cooked. Dishes include a lot of heavy cream sauces. Located in old historic building which has great potential, however the menu, food, and prices all need a major overhaul.
