“Much Needed Rest”
Reviewed October 9, 2011

First, read the other reviews. Like those reviewers, we too had a mixed reaction of delights and frustrations, but our overall experience was positive as it was anchored with beautiful weather.

We stayed with another couple at the two bedroom Cardinal cottage, our first stay at the inn for us all. We had each been to the inn previously for lunch or business meetings, and those visits were good and influenced us to book an October stay to catch the season's color.

The cottage was a mix of old and new and was comfortable. It was built in 1993 and is generally in good shape with a few wear points. For example, the porch screen door is missing the outside handle which makes re-entry a bit harder than it should be. The furniture is new, the beds are comfortable, the two bathrooms are clean. However, the kitchen is mostly non-functional with few dishes and a disabled cook top which was not expected. The cabin does include a microwave but the few coffee cups available had gold trim and sparked if you tried reheating your coffee.

The cottage was clean for a building so nestled among the trees. Lots of animals and insects live in the woods, and we did see everything from 15+ wild turkeys to dangling spiders. All most welcome! Expect some visitors both large and small.

Highs include a generous deck, a big fireplace, parking for two cars, close trails to a meadow complete with picnic table.

Lows include near neighbors in the next cabin (who had a party) and the nearby shotgun target practice with "kapow" heard every 5 seconds for hours with a few pauses for reloading. Not the quiet, private retreat we thought it would be.

The inn's restaurant was reasonably priced with reasonably good food. We did walk the trails to go to breakfast but drove down for dinner.

Room Tip: Stay at the lodge rather than a cabin or the honeycombs.

That is what Inn and Honey Run states is the new goal of the Inn, and they met it with us. We got a deal with Snique Away and snatched up the opportunity to return to one of our favorite Ohio spots.
We stayed in the Honeycombs. This was our second visit to one of these special rooms. It was too warm to light the fire, but great weather for opening the sliding doors and hearing the goats bleating below. We went on hikes (had to walk every trail to really get a good walk), ate breakfast and dinner both days, and got massages. My husband felt the male massotherapist was so good, he booked for a second time the next day!
What I found that I didn't expect: several beautiful handmade quilts for the bed, excellent coffee and a Kuerig machine, homemade biscotti next to the coffee machine, excellent dinner entree choices, including vegetarian.
What I expected but didn't find: The bathroom needs updating. It's really looking old, though it was spotlessly clean. Also, the carpet in the lobby and dining room needs replacing very badly.

I just joined up with Trip advisor, so this review is a little late in coming. Even though it was about 2 years ago we were here, I still wanted to write a review. My husband and I spent the second night of our honeymoon here and it was simply lovely. We stayed in one of the honeycomb rooms. We loved the rock-curved patio built into the hillside. It was a romantic little spot, and provided a great view. Music was playing in our room when we entered, it was some very peaceful nature sounds. A nice little touch.

Stayed over the weekend as a result of a deal on Snique Away. Came into "town" as a result of the College of Wooster's family weekend. Everything was booked in and around Wooster so when we saw the deal on Snique Away we booked. (the Inn is 16 miles and 30 minutes from the college). The setting is beautiful. Located in the heart of Amish country, surrounded by forest, one can fall to sleep listening to the sounds of birds outside your window and nothing else. The trails are nice, but short. We stayed in a deluxe king room in the main lodge. The room was nice, but the bathroom needs updating. The shower was smaller then what one would get on a cruise ship. We did not have a private balcony, but did have full length sliding windows which we could open and "feel" like we were almost sitting outside. The common area's are nice, and there was a fire set - but we were "kicked" out by a group for whom the fire was laid.

We only ate breakfast at the property so can't say too much about the food. All in all a nice country inn, in need of some updating

What a unique and fun experience! The location allows peace, privacy and also views of backroads of the Amish country. We stayed in a honeycomb room which was beautifully decorated, had a gas burning fireplace and private patio area with spectacular views! My disappointment was in the service received at their restaurant. We had breakfast and lunch in the restaurant which was very good. However, our servers were inattentive and non-personable....both times. The check-in staff were all very pleasent and helpful!. Beautiful place which only added to such a wonderful experience in the Amish country!

Room Tip: Avoid the onsight restaurant.

Like another reviewer we too purchased a weekend through Living Social. We too noticed the staff seemed to mention the "living social deal" quite a bit which made us cringe on times - kind of made one feel slightly like the poor cousins. (Until we realized that there were many more like us! The reservation agent on the phone even mentioned they had offered this promotion more than once before!)
That part aside, overall the staff were friendly and helpful.

The honeycomb rooms nestled in (yes, "in" the hill) the hill were delightful. The pastoral view from the second level was unlike any other hotel room we have stayed in. The honey colored wood in the hallways of the honeycomb suite of rooms gave a warm, cozy feel. The room itself was spacious and held a lot of nice touches and amenities, including a gas fireplace and private balcony. Betcha this room setup would be absolutely divine on a cold winter's day.

Two breakfasts in the restaurant were good, but one meal (mine) was totally wrong on one day. My wife ordered the same thing the next day and it was as if the cooks were reading from different cookbooks. Huh?

We had a massage at the "spa." It was okay. Again, kind of a neat place, but not enough of a blow-away to warrant paying the full prices.

Our Living Social voucher gave us about half off the standard rates. It was worth the price we paid, maybe a little more.

Bottom line: Really neat spot for a romantic get-away. Would we go back there? Sure, but at these rates there are plenty more such places to choose from.

Room Tip: Honeycomb rooms, especially on the second level are really neat.

Was at the Inn for a wedding, but would recommend to anyone looking ro relax and enjoy the outdoors. Not kid-friendly. Food was delicious but service was not great. Trails were short but very scenic.
