My wife had planned this wonderful weekend getaway for the two of us. We were in dire need of some relaxation. After spending some time reviewing their website we decided to make the trip down there. Upon entry to the property we were very excited at the beauty of the surrounding community. The inn is hidden back in the woods away from the road so it makes for a very private and beautiful scenary. The outside and inside of the inn were equally as beautiful. However, this is where our romantic weekend gets not so romantic.....

We were greeted at the reception area in an almost cold and unwelcoming manner, almost like it was an inconvienence to the woman that we were even there. She seemed to be doing other things at her computer than focused on our arrival. If she were on the phone or with someone then I would understand, but nope she was just unwelcoming and rude to us for what seemed no good reason. We were sent away to our rooma and we were glad to get away from her, or so we had thought.

Later on for a dining experience we were unfortunate enough to be greeted by her again in the dining room. Again we were an inconvience to her that we were there. We arrived to a dining room that only had a few tables occupied and we were on time for our reservations. However we were told that we could not be seated right away and that instead we needed to take a seat and wait in their waiting lounge. There were very few tables that were occupied and we were on time for our reservation, and it also appeared that they have 3 or 4 waitresses available to serve us at our reserved time. So I am unsure why we could not be seated. We took to the waiting area where we were greeted by our waitress and she was very helpful in allowing us to atleast order a glass of wine and to allow us to start looking over the dining menu. She did not appear to have any other people that she was assisting so we asked her if we would be able to be seated at our dining table. She asked the two ladies up at the front area and our waitress was turned away and they asked her not to crowd the front area. So upon seeing this we did not pressure her again on when we could be seated.

The second of the two woman that were at the front area came to us and asked us to follow her. We were very unfortunate to be seated close to where this front area was at, as it was much too close to them because all we smelled the entire dinner was the stench of ciggerettes on the hostess. I work with individuals who smoke so it is not that big of a problem. But in a dining setting when we are trying to have a romantic evening and that is all you smell, it made the very expensive meal very unappatising.

The second dining night we hoped for a better experience. The second night was a better welcoming but still this time we had our problems. One of the same ladies seated us in between two very close tables. There were other much more desirable tables to be seated at but when we had asked if we could sit at one of them the hostess explained that they were unavailable. So I just assummed that the tables had been requested by someone eating later on in the reservations. This however turned out to not be the case, there were only a few tables sat after us for the rest of the evening and then the seatings were done. And let me mention that those specific tables that we had asked to be seated at instead, they were never again sat at. So we should have been able to sit at any one of those empty tables.

Instead the entire dinner we were stuck very closely between two other small crowded tables. Pretty disappointing experience all around.

This was great food and atmosphere. A must do when staying in Amish Country. I would choose another inn. This is more ritzy than other places.

“Great ambiance, some inventive food, attractive presentation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2013

We've been going to this restaurant for lunch for perhaps 15 years while it moved through three different owners, each leaving their mark and each owner making it a bit better. The current restaurant manager does an outstanding job--a year or two back I asked if the patio was open and he responded: "would you like it to be?" and promptly set it for us. He ensures attentive but not hovering service. "Treetops" would be a more appropriate name for the restaurant for it's at least 30 feet above ground (as is the patio) with huge windows looking out into the trees. It's a bit pricey but worth the price--good food attractively presented. The remodelled dining room and new upholstered chairs are very comfortable and upscale.

not worth the price! Limited menu, high prices and uninterested service. Our meals sounded exotic, but were rather ordinary.
