When we arrived at 1 pm we checked in and our room was already ready. Gabby (lobby receptionist) was awesome! She was quite pleasant, listened thoroughly, and answered any questions. No need to check out - just leave the room by 11 am on the departure day.
We have stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge ("GWL") in the past - only staying 1 night (2 days at water park). We initially planned to stay 1 night at to the GWL for this trip, but received a special deal under our door after the first night. This special deal enabled us to try a different room/suite at a discounted price.
Our first night at the GWL we stayed in the KidCabin Suite. Our kids loved having a separate living/sleeping area, but seemed to argue over who sat/slept on the top bunkbed. This suite contains a living room with a fireplace, a queen bed located in the living room, a separate open "cabin" area with a bunkbed and a twin bed, and one full bath.
The second night at the GWL we stayed in the Grizzly Bear Suite. We all enjoyed the spacious suite - I believe it is the largest suite GWL offers. This suite contains a living room with fireplace, a bedroom with a queen bed and separate full bath, a bedroom with two queen beds, and another full bath.
The first and second days at the water park were pleasant because it wasn't overly busy and there were multiple lifeguards on duty. The third day seemed slightly busier (it was Thursday) and there were definitely less lifeguards on duty because when lifeguards responded to a situation, rides shut down completely - this happened to us twice while standing in line. We also noticed that the tube rides were operating as a single line for both the individual and family rides because only one lifeguard was present (instead of there being two lifeguards the previous two days).
We purchased a Paw Pass on the second day (since we extended our trip). The Paw Pass enabled the kids to play MagiQuest (game & wand included) and receive multiple perks with this Pass - one pair of wolf ears, 50 points at the arcade, build one stuffed animal, a scoop of ice cream, one glitter tattoo, and one sports bottle w/free refills. The MagiQuest game was fun for the kids, but at the same time frustrating - traveling up/down multiple floors using the only two elevator bays in the hotel and at times the MagiQuest wand didn't respond to the game and we had to request assistance via the store employee.
Feel free to bring your child's Halloween costume if staying in October. There is a trick-or-treat scavenger hunt - kids can participate even if they aren't in costume.
We ordered a pepperoni pizza (from Hungry as a Wolf) the second night of our trip - it was pretty good. We ate lunch at Spirit Island Snack Shop (we like this eating place the best at the GWL). Our other meals were from outside restaurants (i.e., McDonalds, DQ, etc).
