I hardly know where to start complaining about the hotel. I have been using Expedia often for years and never expected to book a hotel like that Econo Lodge. It had none, none I repeat, of the amenities listed, not even a clock. It was filthy, and as a woman traveling alone I really feared for my safety there.
I did file a complaint that night with front desk (moved rooms, the bath tub was filled with hairs and the room smelled of dirty socks - the 2nd room really as bad) and was so furious about getting stuck there I called Choice Hotels at 8 pm soon after I arrived to tell them the place is shockingly bad. The restaurant is boarded up, dilapidated, the pool is filled with concrete with weeds growing out of it. No other businesses in sight of the desolate hotel - except for the boarded up, bright green Rainbo Spa next door and the Gentlemen's Club half a mile away!
This was unbelievable. If I hadn't driven a UHAUL by myself for 350 miles that day I would have kept going.
The shower curtain was ripped, as were the lamp shades. The carpet in the hall was filthy and frayed, the room's 2 chairs had huge, disgusting stains on them.
I don't know how websites vet places, but this hotel is not at all what it says it is on the Expedia site.
I even took pictures - my favorite is of the back of the door of my 2nd room where the room rates/safety info should be - there was only a black sticker with a skull and crossbones on it. Yikes - beware is right!
Signed, A not that picky frequent traveler...

This motel was just okay. We stayed there sort of as a last resort since there were no other vacant hotels that were reasonably priced in the area.

The room looked clean enough. The carpet was vacuumed and everything else looked normal for a motel. I don't think, however, that the towels were changed on the second day. I walked in on the housekeeper "cleaning" the bathroom that day. She didn't have a cart or cleaning supplies, so I'm assuming she was just tidying up. Anyway, the towels looked fresh, but were still damp. They were obviously the same towels we had used. The sheets weren't changed, either, in the five days we were there. There was no alarm clock so I had to keep my cell phone handy. The phone book was also an abridged version. I don't know why this was, or if was even the fault of the motel, but it wasn't very handy.

Everything else was fine, but the area seemed a little shady. There is a strip club down the street, and that's about it. This didn't bother us much, though, since we were located close enough to the freeway (but not too close that we could hear the traffic). The staff was very nice, but as can be expected, there was no room service.

Overall, it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be since this is a one-star motel. I would probably stay here again if I had to since the price was really good (about $50 per night per room).

It's an old motel and there's noting else at this exit (no restaurant, no massage parlor, nothing). It's an old motel and it shows its age, but everything was clean -- bathroom, linens, etc. My wife saw an ant in the bathroom; I didn't notice. The TV (with remote) worked well. It had a new microwave oven, which we didn't use. The desk clerks (both the woman at night and the older man in the morning) were polite. We arrived late and were given the room we had reserved (and were even offered an alternative bed type). There was free wireless connection in the room for our laptop. There were only about a dozen or so other cars at the motel on a Sat. night (Aug. 18) Our room was quiet. We had no problem getting ice from the machine. The continental breakfast (coffee, juice, toast, and donuts) was fine. The price at Expedia (before tax) was about $53. We weren't expecting more than the basics and we were satisfied with the result.

We stopped late at night passing through the area. The front desk person was not friendly at all. The room was dingy with burn holes, a run down stove and no hot water in the shower. It was so late we decided not to say anything until we checked out inthe morning. When we mentioned the shower the next day the staff was rude and offered no apology or compensation. I definitely do NOT recommend this hotel.

Each year, we travel from East Tennessee to Mansfield, Ohio for a club show and stay at a near-by motel. This year (2005), I didn't get my booking in the usual hotel soon enough and it was full so I had to select another one. No problem, I thought.........and to Hotels I went to see what would seem easy enough to find - and get back and forth from the show's location without getting lost. After comparing several motel's addresses on mapquest to our show location, I decided on the Econo Lodge at Koogle Road in Mansfield.

We were there to check in on April 30th, a little after 1pm. No one else was at the hotel, in respect to guests - they had all checked out. The clerk (who I expect was also the owner) ignored our Hotels reservation and gave us a room that was other than what we'd chosen at Hotels. After about half an hour of arguments about it, he gave us a non-smoking room on the ground floor as had been originally booked. We went around to put our things in the room so we could proceed on to the show, which began at 2pm. Our room pass key would not work! The door from the back of the hotel to the lobby was locked so we had to go back around to the front again. The clerk took us thru the inside lobby and unlocked the door for us using his key from the inner hallway and let us in the room. Our outside door pass key would not work for him either. So, I asked for another room that our key would work in as we'd be returning later in the night - his reply, "I don't have another room to give you." What? Only one non-smoking room in the whole hotel? - or - as I looked at the empty parking lot and wondered, who was using up all the other rooms? So, altho frustrated, we let it go. Then I used the restroom - someone had urinated in the toliet (stinking nasty dark yellow) and it apparently had remained that way for some time - making a ring on the inside of the bowl. Disgusting! There was no toliet paper, nor a remote for the TV, altho it was included in the room's price and I had been charged extra for it. The room was overcrowded with furniture - there were three tables with chairs (? - were they thinking we were also giving a dinner party) a dresser, a desk and built-in sink/stove/frig (that we had NOT asked for). There was barely room to walk around all of it to get to anything. Later that night, the girl at the desk - who also had to let us in our room - after shrugging -gave us a remote for the TV and we bought our own toliet paper. The outside entrance to the ice maker was locked - and again, we had to go all the way around the building to the lobby to access the ice maker and vending machines there. The shower was not cleaned from previous guests and the shower curtain was covered with scum........ And everytime we went to our car, to get back in - we had to block the door open with a chair (or walk all the way around the motel again). Plus, they were comparible in price to other motels with pools and complimentary breakfast - but had neither.

After I got back home, I contacted Hotels and advised them that they may want to consider removing this particular motel from their selections. I noticed today that it is still there - but I would not recommend it to ANYONE. Motel 6 is the Taj Mahal compared to this place. They did, however, suggest I post a review of my stay here, on this website, as a review. So, here it is!

I had never stayed at an Econo Lodge before, but one thing is for sure - I'll never stay at this motel again - anywhere!

This motel is clean, once you are inside, and decent for a facility in this price range. The pool appears permanently closed, as is some facility (tavern/restaurant?) in the front lot. The motel is located behind a health spa and there is a gentleman's club about a quarter mile away. Breakfast included a self serve waffle maker. If the area is OK with you (these are the only three things at this interstate exit), I wouldn't be reluctant to stay here, but don't bring the kids unless you are prepared to explain the neighborhood...
