“Cool Old Prison.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

The old architecture is outstanding and seeing the prison conditions of an old prison like this (similar to what Alcatraz looks like inside) is really an eye opener. The fun part was seeing the areas used for filming The Shawshank Redemption and some of the tunnel props. An added bonus was checking out the old buildings on Main St. which were used for outside scenes where Red walked when he was out of the prison including the shop where he looks at the pistol.

“A must-see tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2012

We wanted to see this last year but didn't get the chance so if you are in town, this is a do-not-miss. It is most ideal to get here on a day with plenty of sunshine because otherwise you will not get to see some of the areas due to poor lighting. Very informative tour with a guide too. I found this 2nd place only to the Alcatraz tour!

“Awesome tour”

Go on a Sunday for the guided tours. Don't miss the Hollywood tour where you are shown where scenes from movies and videos were shot.

“sunday private ghost hunt is the way to go.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2012

Went last Sunday one of the most interesting and exciting I have done in a while. I was a bit skeptical at first but we are already making plans to book another hunt. Driving up the building is very beautiful. When you get past into the heart of the facility it is a different story. It is very hard to believe this place has decayed so fast. It adds tremendously to the creepiness once the lights are off.
Having a small group was definitely the way to go. You can break away from the group and not run into anyone for hours. The tour to begin with was a good way to get the lay off the land. However there are more creepy areas you find by yourself after the lights go out. The Pizza Party that is part of your night makes you feel like your at childhood sleep over. Free coffee, soda, and water was nice.
I cant say for sure i saw anything while is was roaming in the darkness. However it did hear some creepy sounds when hanging out in some very dark areas. The pictures came out well but there is still 2 hours of video and 4 hours of audio to sift thru.
All and all had a great time and so did everyone in our group. My suggestion if you do an over night choose a good group it makes it more fun. We are considering two or three trips next year.

“History worth seeing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2012

I am so glad this prison was saved. When I was young this prison still housed prisoners. Movies have been filmed here, rock videos have been filmed here, and history is here. There are various tours of the prison available and at Halloween it turns into the Haunted Reformatory. Well worth a trip to see!
