This was second visit to St Joseph's which is run by an Engineer who said WHY NOT when it came to Pinot Noirs as well as other grapes - Sangiavase grapes. My wife and I talked to one of the owners for 1/2 hr while tasting the wines. She spent allot of time explaining some of the special things which needed to be done with the Pinot Noir Vines and Grapes. We discussed the Silver Medals which they won in California - 400 Pinots awarded Gold, Silver or Bronze out of 3000 entries. I asked if there was any differences between St Joe's and West Coast - she stated it was mainly sugar content, St Joe's had none while West Coast usually has some residuals which is what the judges likes.
One thing she stated was the grapes used in their wine they grow not like some of the wineries which they call KIT Wineries who buy their grapes.
Only sad thing, we should have save more money for their wine since their winery was 2nd last place and we bought quit a bit. We have 3 wineries which are have to if we get up there again - this being one.
