Three of us went to the castle on a girls overnight---our room was beautiful, we had dinner --it was fantastic! The grounds around the castle were lovely---since going in March the fountains wern't yet working---but still very nice. The pool was perfect temperature, but the hot tub was so full of chemical ---it made us itch-!! Also some lighting needs added around the hot tub and the entrace to the pool . As you come into the property the sign is so appropriate but the driveway needs re-surfaced badly, I was dissapointed the trees were not lit up at night--it just adds to the experience, I didn't understand the dinosaurs, maybe dragons to go with the theme?? We had a nice visit--but we hope the owners aren't letting the property go down , that would be a shame---since this is a unigue place. Also I was there before the fire---and they had a big and wonderful gift shop---I missed that, nothing in the restaurant area now. This should be a 5 star property--so much to work with, with the midevil theme---such a shame it isn't being fully utilized!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Hess Suite--

We had a pleasant stay. Our room was luxurious with a fireplace, jacuzzi, heated bathroom tiles, and a nice kitchenette. The staff was very friendly. The continental breakfast was very adequate. The pool area, however, had mold along the walls. The hot tub was in working order. There was no fitness equipment. We decided to walk down to the restaurant for dessert, but no one came to seat us, so we left.

Went here for my boyfriend and I's 3 year anniversary in November 2012. They had a great special going for only 99 a night Mon-Thurs. It was worth every penny. The stay at Landoll's is so unique, you won't have an experience like it!

We stayed in the Hess Suite. It was a ground floor room that was about the size of a 1 bedroom apartment. Every single detail was BEAUTIFUL! The bed was comfy, the bathroom was clean and gorgeous and the fireplace got the room warm quickly! There were super comfy robes in the closet that were as soft as a cloud. I love the decoration of the room. I felt like we had just traveled to somewhere other than Ohio to get such different decor. The fridge had some beverages in it. When we first walked in they had beautiful celtic music playing. Wonderful touch!

The staff were so nice. When we checked in they automatically asked if we'd like to make reservations for the restaurant, which we agreed to. After we checked in and fell in love with our room, we went back up to the office to ask the lady if we could see another room just for kicks. She gladly grabbed the suite key to the room next to the office and let us see it. (I think it was called the Hanover Suite?) We thanked her and then rented the board game Clue from the office.

We had dinner at the restaurant on the grounds and we L-O-V-E-D it! The food was delicious (chicken alfredo with a fruit cup) and it was quaint.

We then took the very dark path (BRING FLASHLIGHTS!!) to the indoor pool. This was November, so it was about 40 degrees outside. The pool room was toasty and felt amazing. We were the only ones at the pool. The hot tub was closed, but it certainly didn't bother us.

After our pool excursion we toured the grounds with a flashlight. It gets very dark up here, so be sure to bring a source of light. We enjoyed the dark, though, because it was private.

We went back to the room afterwards. I will say we could hear the people above us walking around, but it didn't bother us too much. We have lived in apartments for years, so not a big issue. I got wifi on my laptop, but weak signal. It was nice to have cable TV, too.

In the morning, we got ready and went to get the continental breakfast. They had cereal, muffins and coffee and juice. Great start to the day! Our checkout was easy.

We will certainly be making a trip to Landoll's a tradition. I'm relieved I didn't listen to the negative reviews on here because I would have missed out on a unique and wonderful trip!!

Room Tip: Hess Suite! It is ground floor, but has gorgeous decor and an amazing bathroom!

We surprised our 16 year old with an overnight trip in Landoll's Castle for her birthday. We had a wonderful time! The room was beautiful! The room was clean, the bed and sleep sofa was comfortable, and everyone was very friendly. We would highly recommend it to everyone!

We had been here a couple of years ago for a day trip, had lunch and toured the castle. Loved the area and the thought of staying in the castle appealed to us. Things looked beautiful. So, we finally made plans to meet family here this past weekend. We had a great time and there were many nice things about our stay, but the past few years have taken their toll, both inside and out.
We stayed in the Barton Suite. Upon entering, the room really looked very rich with its dark wood, drapes and bedspread. The fireplace was such a nice feature and really did heat the room. We also liked the soft playing Celtic CD that was on when we arrived. Although we did not use the pool or hot tub, we did go into the building; it looked nice and the water was warm. However, there was a lot of maintenance that has been overlooked. Scrapes in walls, broken shower/tub handle, broken shelf in the refrigerator, cabinet handles in the suite; very bumpy entrance hill with way too many pot holes and VERY icy paths and parking spaces that really should have been salted as it was snowing the day we arrived. Also, since we had a room above us that was occupied, we did have some trouble sleeping since every footstep above us was able to be heard.
Overall, it was an awesome concept to be able to stay in a castle and we had a good time. However it is our opinion, that the place should be better maintained. Hopefully this will be done before it falls into total disrepair.
