Not many folks alive today can recall washing clothes on a washboard, HOWEVER....there is still a demand for them and unbelievably, there is still a factory making them today in the good ole US of A.
A group of dedicated owners saved the Columbus Washboard Factory by moving it from Columbus Ohio to an old factory in Logan Ohio, and today they have much of the original equipment and are using it...and using local hardwoods for frames...and I think they only buy American made glass and aluminum for the body of the boards....so it's truly an American treasure, hiding the the Hills of Ohio!
Have guided tours for a modest price ( If I recall it's $3.00) Reasonably priced items in their gift shop...interesting collections of antique washboards, washing machines. Also I think they host a music festival in June.
And I almost forgot, the world LARGEST WASHBOARD is hanging on the outside of the building!
