“Nice canoe trip”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

We arrived and told them we wanted to do the 7 mi canoe trip, paid, got our paddles, and waited maybe 30 minutes to get in the van. The person who drove us helped us get in the canoe and sent us on our way with directions to the rock bridge. It was beautiful canoe trip and the rock bridge is not all the far from where we started and was a very short (although uphill) hike to get to the rock bridge.

As far as doing the 7 mile trip, it is nice and beautiful but long. Only reason we did it was so we could see the rock bridge. The rock bridge is very cool and a great photo opportunity. The estimated time they gave is probably a pretty good estimate and when they say 2-1/2 to 3 hours paddle time they truly mean PADDLE time. My husband and I don't know how to relax and were back in 2 hour 15 minutes, but that was with some work. It is not guided or anything so you can go at whatever pace you would like. I suggest that if you start to feel a little stiff (kind of hard on the back) and see a place to pull off where you can walk around take it. The last few miles there wasn't really a very good place and I wished I had taken the opportunity. We would definitely go again, it was a beautiful location and the staff was friendly and helpful.

“Lazy river”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Perfect for people looking for a slow river with few rapids, although there was a lot of paddling. We took the 7 mile trip and should have packed a lot more food. There were lots of partiers, drinking and smoking. There's a cool rope swing, and supposedly you can hike to a stone bridge but we never saw the path for it.

“good times”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

Loved the fact we could bring our dog in the canoe with us. He had a great time splashing in the water & watching other canoes.
It was a good price for the time we spent on the river.
Definitely recommend for a family outing.

“Be prepared to wait...and wait...and...”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

We called ahead to schedule a time ( 5 people) and they informed us that they didn't schedule times that we should just show up. After paying we were told it would only be 45 min at most before they would take us to our drop. . After an hour and fifteen min and watching several families who arrived after us get taken out I went to find out what was going on. Thy said it shouldn't be too long . After a two hour wait....we finally boarded the van for our designation. Fortunately this was one of our first activities of the week and were able to forget the experience with all the other activities to do in Hocking Hills. I do not recommend Fox's Canoe Livery.

“First time canoe trip - very pleasant”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

The livery is in an excelled location, surrounded by antique shopping, putt-putt, and an Amish restaurant. There is plenty to do for the non-canoe people in your party. The staff drove us five miles up river so we could return to the Rempel's Grove docks, telling us it would take us about an hour and a half. My 12 year-old and I had never canoed, but caught on quickly in this mild and lazy river. It is quite shallow in most places so we felt very safe learning how to canoe this way. More experienced boaters would probably be bored. BTW- my 70 year old aunt and uncle were first timers and enjoyed it too. But we all commented that five miles is pretty long for first-timers.
