Shaw’s markets itself as a fine dining experience in downtown Lancaster, but it fell extremely short based on our dinner. My husband had the Southern Comfort Chicken (cornbread crusted breast of chicken, pan-seared with a Bourbon Pecan Brown Butter sauce…whoever was in the kitchen that night was not very skilled and the chicken was burned on the bottom. I had the Beef Wellington special, well that was a waste since it came overcooked (medium to medium well). We had our kids with us and one ordered the pizza, then refused to eat I because she said it tasted “disgusting”, well she was right it was not edible….the other daughter had the pasta and it was better than any of our entrees! Overall the food was not worth it and we wish we had just cone to Texas Roadhouse just to have something decent, but we chose Shaw’s because we expected a higher caliber dinner, but were disappointed and will not return

Although Shaw's is a bit out of the way from Columbus, Ohio, it is well worth the trip! It has old charm and a wonderful ambiance, complete with seasoned wait staff. The menu is varied and offers seasonal selections. The quality of the food is exceptional. Try it-you won't be disappointed! It is conveniently located off of route 33, in the heart of Lancaster, Ohio.

This older city hotel restaurant has many tempting menu choices, including several seasonal specialties. I had the Bison Beer Braised Short Ribs, which were truly delectable with a generous portion of homemade mashed potatoes. My husband had the 10 oz. Prime Rib, which was cooked perfectly to medium-rare. The wine list is quite extensive and has been acknowledged many years by Wine Spectator as award-winning. We had a very good Malbec reasonably priced at $32. The side salad for the bison dinner was generous enough for two to share with supremely fresh greens and tomatoes. My only complaint was that the rather long lag between the salad and our entrees. The next morning we thoroughly enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast served by a cheerful and charming young lady. However, again there was quite a period of wait time for our breakfasts to arrive to the table. Fortunately, it was worth the wait! The decor of the dining is pleasant and conducive to a relaxed, tasty meal anytime!

We ate at Shaw's the night after our 40th anniversary dinner, and it was delicious. If it was closer to home, it would become our favorite restaurant for special occasions. Delicious French Onion soup, filet mignon, New York strip, and they brought us a little cake with a candle for our anniversary. Romantic restaurant.

We stopped in for lunch on our way to Hocking Hills and had a delightful meal. Hubby and I shared crusted orange roughy and corn cakes. The fish was moist, tender, and flavorful. The corn cakes were tasty and delicious. As a starter, we were served warm cinnamon rolls with a frosting that reminded me of the penuche(brown sugar) fudge my mother used to make. Hubby didn't want to eat his at first because he doesn't eat much bread, but, one bite and he couldn't put it down! We took mine to our cabin, and he ate it for breakfast the following morning. The waitress said to microwave it for 11 seconds and it would be perfect, and it was. Our server was charming and pleasant to talk with. The prices were reasonable, and the ambiance was very classy. Would definitely return.
