Description: Pier W, a landmark Cleveland restaurant, has been serving a critically acclaimed seafood and contemporary menu since May 11, 1965. Having recently undergone a $3 million interior renovation, the new Pier W resembles a sophisticated luxury liner cantilevered over Lake Erie offering dramatic views of both the Lake and the downtown Cleveland skyline. We would like to request that shorts, flip flops and baseball caps are not worn to the restaurant.

“Amazing for Special Occassions!”
Reviewed July 10, 2011

I'm not sure how this isn't #1 in Cleveland! Pier W has the best food, the best service and that amazing view! We've started going here for lunch when they open to ensure one of the best tables. Also a plus are the lunch prices. The food is amazing and the service is exceptional also. We were celebrating our 7th anniversary (we go here for every anniversary) and we also brought my in-laws who were visiting from Scotland. Everyone loved it. It was also a nice touch that they gave us Pier W coffee mugs for being travelers/anniversary. You cannot go wrong with Pier W for a special occassion!

“WOW”
Reviewed June 29, 2011

The service, the wine, the view of the city skyline, the prices AND the service --all excellent and with a smile. Our server was very pleasant, kind and helpful. The food was amazing and they had the most fabulous blackberry creme brulee!!!

“The view or the food or the service, which is better?”
Reviewed January 20, 2011

Folks if you are looking for a special place for a Sunday brunch, this is it! From the smoked salmon and sushi appetizers to the pork tenderloin carving station to the creme brulee for dessert, this was a wonderful brunch!
We were in Cleveland for the Boat and Fishing show. A friend had been here years ago and said the Pier W was wonderful so we thought we'd give it a try. The view would be worth the effort of course! But it is so much more than just an amazing view!
The service is great, casual but elegant atmosphere, but most importantly, all the food was tasty! The Sunday Brunch was 35 per person with a glass of bubbly provided. My husband offered to be the DD so i got to have his and my glasses!
The view of the frozen Lake Erie was breathtaking. We plan to go back this summer and see the action on the lake.

“Romantic evening”
Reviewed December 20, 2010

We have just returned from a wonderful anniversary dinner at Pier W. This is our traditional place to celebrate our special day and we were not disappointed! The prices are costly , but if you are looking for an evening out for a special occasion, you will find the food, ambiance and service to your liking. We had a window seat overlooking the Cleveland skyline as we dined on what I believe to be the best meal I ever experienced at Pier W. The wood grilled heirloom beet salad was delicious and beautifully presented. My husband enjoyed the classic lobster bisque. The sea scallops with lemon thyme gnocchi, asparagus and shitake mushrooms was amazing. The crab stuffed shrimp was also very good and presented on piped mashed potatoes for a lovely presentation.
I highly recommend the fresh sorbets and the Pier W coffee for a lovely ending. Thank you Pier W for a perfect evening!

“It was just sad.”
Reviewed November 29, 2010

Four people for Thanksgiving dinner, November 2010. They could not give us a reservation around dinner hour (4 - 6 p.m.), so we dined at 1:30 p.m. The restaurant was half (or less) full. Every other time we've eaten out on Thanksgiving, no matter where or what time, the restaurants were packed. Then, get this--$52 per person for Thanksgiving dinner. $52? We are not cheapskates, but there's no turkey dinner in the world worth that much. Three of us ordered steaks, cooked medium. All steaks were barely rare. Two were sent back, and the replacement steaks were also undercooked. What kind of chef can't cook a simple steak? The manager apologized and discounted the price of the two dinners, which was the right thing to do. The replacement steaks were eaten, but not enjoyed. Several years ago, this restaurant was redecorated and taken from a kind of '70s-'80s nautical theme to a more bistro-like decor. Tables and floor seemed clean enough, but the wood-paneled wall on the east side of the restaurant seriously needs to be dusted. The recessed light fixtures in that wall are full of dust. The view is all this restaurant has going for it but, fortunately, there are lots of other places to gaze upon Lake Erie besides Pier W. We are native Clevelanders who have eaten at Pier W many times over the years. None of us wants to go back. We'd rather remember this restaurant the way it was as opposed to the way it is.
