“Loved The Spiritual History Lesson”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

The LDS Church has a wonderful History center with several beautifully restored buildings and a small community of historic business and homes. They offer a wonderful FREE tour of the beautiful grounds with videos and digital history and the sister missionaries are knowledgeable and informative. They said that many "tourists" come to Kirtland to see the Kirtland Temple (which is not owned by the LDS Church) and then they don't even know about The Historic Kirtland Center. Both the Temple and the Historic center are well worth the visit. The Center is free, the Temple is a $3 donation.Plan on a few hours for each site. Take the 30 mile trip out to the Johnson farm. It is well worth the trip. I asked the missionaries if it was worth the trip? They said that they would walk the 30 miles if they had to, so we went and sure enough, it was worth the trip. We didn't even have to walk (like i'm sure many of the early pioneers had to).

“Loved it!”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Our family of 9 made this one of our stops. Very interesting to see these early LDS church history sites. The sister missionaries were very sweet. Were very nice to include our 3 and 6 year old grand children and make them feel important.

“Free historical exhibits”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

I'm not Mormon, but find the historical exhibits, church, and history of this area fascinating. Very nicely done and free. I would check hours to be sure things are open. I like to take pictures and it was a good photog area.

“Great historical summary of early Kirtland”
Reviewed September 13, 2012 via mobile

Historic Kirtland will be most interest to members of the LDS Church or Community of Christ, since major events of both religions occurred here. In addition to the Visitors Center, Whitney home and store, Johnson Inn, sawmill, and ashery, make the very short drive to the Morley farm, and longer drive but well worth it, to the John Johnson farm near Hiram. While there see the house where the Snow's were born. All of the above can be seen in a day including the temple, with proper planning
