This was our first stay at this hotel in Kent. Usually we stay at the Hampton Inn because of the Kent State Rate but this time I was without a car and wanted to stay within walking distance of the town of Kent. The location is perfect! Overall I was impressed. Let me start with the rate, it wasn't too bad. AAA rate of ($107 compared to the $89 Hampton Inn rate) but the negative is the additional $10 parking per night in the ramp. Although $10 is nothing compared to some big cities that charge up to $60 per night. It was in and out privileges. The hotel lobby was large with a comfortable bar and seating area with a huge wall/tv that was great for watching the Olympics. This is also where breakfast was served. Breakfast was complimentary. It wasn't as good as the Hampton Inn but it was adequate. It included yogurt, fruit salad (probably from frozen), oatmeal, one day was bagels and toast, the other day was pastries. If you wanted a hot beverage you could order it from the restaurant. I didn't order but they all looked very good.
The pool area was adequate since we were the only ones in there. I'd have to say the pool was a bit small compared to most hotel pools. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Overall I would say my experience was very positive. In fact I have already booked for may 2015 for my Son's Kent State graduation. The negatives, the bed had a crunch mattress pad on it. It reminded me of one you would put on a crib for water proof. Another negative is that the cleaning staff thought it was a good idea to vacuum the hallways at 10:00 am on a Saturday morning. I thought that was a bit early to be making that kind of noise outside of bedrooms. Luckily I was up. Some reviews complained about the noise coming from other rooms. I didn't find it to be any different than other hotels I have been in. The last negative was that breakfast was advertised to be from 6 a.m.-10:00 a.m. M-F. My husband had to run out for work at 6:15 and had planned on getting something to eat on the road, unfortunately they weren't set up and he had to leave without getting breakfast. My negatives shouldn't persuade you to not book. I just like informing others of the good and the bad. As I said earlier I already booked for 2015.
