“Great location, nice hotel.”
Reviewed February 22, 2014

This was our first stay at this hotel in Kent. Usually we stay at the Hampton Inn because of the Kent State Rate but this time I was without a car and wanted to stay within walking distance of the town of Kent. The location is perfect! Overall I was impressed. Let me start with the rate, it wasn't too bad. AAA rate of ($107 compared to the $89 Hampton Inn rate) but the negative is the additional $10 parking per night in the ramp. Although $10 is nothing compared to some big cities that charge up to $60 per night. It was in and out privileges. The hotel lobby was large with a comfortable bar and seating area with a huge wall/tv that was great for watching the Olympics. This is also where breakfast was served. Breakfast was complimentary. It wasn't as good as the Hampton Inn but it was adequate. It included yogurt, fruit salad (probably from frozen), oatmeal, one day was bagels and toast, the other day was pastries. If you wanted a hot beverage you could order it from the restaurant. I didn't order but they all looked very good.
The pool area was adequate since we were the only ones in there. I'd have to say the pool was a bit small compared to most hotel pools. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Overall I would say my experience was very positive. In fact I have already booked for may 2015 for my Son's Kent State graduation. The negatives, the bed had a crunch mattress pad on it. It reminded me of one you would put on a crib for water proof. Another negative is that the cleaning staff thought it was a good idea to vacuum the hallways at 10:00 am on a Saturday morning. I thought that was a bit early to be making that kind of noise outside of bedrooms. Luckily I was up. Some reviews complained about the noise coming from other rooms. I didn't find it to be any different than other hotels I have been in. The last negative was that breakfast was advertised to be from 6 a.m.-10:00 a.m. M-F. My husband had to run out for work at 6:15 and had planned on getting something to eat on the road, unfortunately they weren't set up and he had to leave without getting breakfast. My negatives shouldn't persuade you to not book. I just like informing others of the good and the bad. As I said earlier I already booked for 2015.

Another fencing competition for my son, this one at Kent State University, led us to stay at this surprisingly trendy small hotel. The lobby is quiet yet welcoming with an open bar & restaurant to the right and a well-planned seating are to the left. Minimal on-tend decor made the entryway unique. The double queen room was luxe with every amenity, except for a shower cap. The beds were comfy but could have used a few extra down pillows & an extra blanket or two. The complimentary continental breakfast was just right with lovely oatmeal, yogurt, fresh fruit, sweet rolls & Starbucks coffee. Will definitely go back if in the area again.

The hotel was beautiful and had nice amenities but the people next to us were very loud and kept us up all night. The hotel staff were very responsive to our complaints and gave us a discount on the room. Walls were pretty thin too could here toilet flushes and such.

We decided to try out the new hotel in Kent while taking our daughter back to school. It was very nice with a large, clean room and a very friendly staff. A few oddities like a bathroom vent with no fan and no light over the rather dark toilet alcove. Also, the entry light at the room's door doesn't provide enough light to find the switches on the lamps. The room appears to have been designed by someone who does NOT spend a lot of time in unfamiliar hotel rooms. Overall, however, I would rate it first among the hotels that we have stayed at in Kent. A discount for Kent State parents would certainly be welcome!

Room Tip: Second floor rooms have direct access to a balcony that would be very nice in warm weather.

Stayed here for a Holiday Party that was being held in one of their banquet rooms and stayed there again on New Year's Eve. I have nothing bad to say about the hotel other than it can get a little noisy in the hallways, but, it was during the holidays and New Year's Eve so I can't complain.

The hotel is brand new so I hope they keep it looking nice and clean as it was when we stayed there. The staff is great and very friendly and accommodating.

As I mentioned had a holiday party there, food was delicious!

Would recommend and will stay there again.

Stayed here to attend my daughter's PhD commencement event. It is lovely inside, the staff is friendly. Unfortunately the bed was miserably uncomfortable - like sleeping on a table and the bedding was crunchy - like there was plastic underneath. The rooms were really noisy. You could hear people walking around above you, as well as conversations from the hall and the rooms on either side of you. The phone kept ringing in the room next door and it was disturbing all night. The door leading to the hall had an inch gap where light and noise came through.

I would opt to stay somewhere else - it wasn't an inexpensive place.
