“Yuch!”
Reviewed June 5, 2010

Mold smell is terrible thru entire hotel(old building with water damage). All latches on windows were broken(changed rooms three times, finally got a set to latch with the help of a pair of pliers). Of course we were then trapped in event of fire. Management claimed no knowledge of windows, but since the latch handles were CUT off more than likely entire hotel is this way. The front desk said upper management had been notified. The front desk also produced the pliers from under the counter very fast considering they had no knowledge. Very unnerving to see this kind of security breach!

This property is actually very decent. It's right on the road, so don't count on any kind of setting, but inside was a nice surprise. The staff was very friendly and willing to accomodate. The lobby was clean and neat, as was the room, really clean. The beds were doubles, so I'll give a less than great to that, but the bedding was decent and reasonably comfortable. The bathroom was spotless.

We didn't use the indoor pool, but it was clean and adequeate as well, towels provided. The breakfast was good, cereal, fruit, juice, waffles, pastries, decent coffee, etc. A nice freebie, especially for families. We thought the price was great for the value, and a lot better than anywhere we've stayed in Sandusky. We have already recommended this inn to others. Also, a short drive to Cedar point, so the location is good too.

We stayed here in the depths of winter when Huron and Sandusky were closed down. This place seemed good for a stopover though. The rooms are fine, the staff are friendly and the breakfast is not bad.

My family of 4 enjoyed our stay. The staff was both courteous and attentive. The hotel is well maintained and the indoor pool was a big hit with the kids. This is an excellent family value.

This review might not sound like it, but I did like this place. After you get off the freeway if your GPS or Google map tells you to turn right onto Cleveland then you should turn left.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. When we first got there you had to page someone to the front desk, but they arrived fairly quickly.
For a free breakfast they had a nice selection! They offered cereals (corn flakes, fruit loops, rice krispies,) muffins, bagels, doughnuts, hard boiled eggs, fruits (bananas & apples) and a make it yourself Belgian waffle set up. Coffee, water, milk and OJ to drink. Could have maybe used a 2nd waffle maker, but the staff kept things pretty well filled.
The pool was nice, and not very deep ~ 4 ft. The exercise room could be updated. The weight machine seemed fine, but I wasn’t able to adjust the seat on the exercise bike and I don’t know if you could change the tension on it. The elliptical machine also could not be adjusted.
Our room was spacious! WiFi was a bit slower than we were used to, but it worked fine and there was a nice desk in the room to setup on. We had a front room and I didn’t hear the train at all the first night. But the 2nd night between my friends snoring and the train I had to pull out the iPod to cover the sounds. There was an extra per day fee for the safe. The safe was nice and large too – you could stick a backpack, or other bag in there. Towels were scratchy (maybe so you won’t steal them,) but I thought they were a ok size. Not as nice as a bath sheet, but I didn’t feel like I was drying off with a washcloth. The bathroom walls could use a nice scrubbing, but my friends and I aren’t too fussy. We would stay here again. The location was great for us. Some of the nearby food was a Mexican restaurant, local diner, McDonald’s, Subway, and pizza.

I stayed at this hotel while visiting a friend in Huron. The hotel was acceptable but nothing special. The hotel is showing its age and could use a few updates in the rooms. The air conditioner didn't work well and the comforters were stained. The bathroom tiles and fixtures also showed some age as well.

  • Liked — Its closeness to my friend's house.
  • Disliked — Its worn appearance

The hotel room smelled really weird when we first came in, but my first impression of the room was that it looked pretty clean. The water pressure was horrible and the bathroom grossed me out a little, but it served it's purpose. I thought that the room was a little pricey for what you get but it is close to cedar point and it does serve a continental breakfast. Although I would advise just saving your appetite for the McDonald's across the street. The pool looked really nice even though we didn't swim in it. Overall it was a pretty good experience. I would say to stay in this hotel if you don't want to pay an arm and a leg for something that is probably not that much better.

  • Liked — It was close to Cedar Point and we were able to book it at the last minute.
  • Disliked — The bathroom was pretty dirty and the sink was on the outside of the bathroom.
