“Solid place. Likely best in area”
Reviewed February 19, 2013 via mobile

Great menu and food. Warm and inviting atmosphere on a cold winter's night. A few large TV's to watch the game but they are not intrusive. Good service and beer choices. Could use some better wine choices. I had the potato/bacon soup which was awesome. Then the beet salad that was OK, large, tasty, but could use more beets and corn bread. I will go bac k. A new "on the road" favorite.

“Great Burgers and Beer Selection”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

We recently discovered Bar North Bistro and have already visited on several occasions. We've never been disappointed. Their burger night (Thursday) has a great and intersting selection, and their entrees are fantastic! Great beer and wine selection, clean atmosphere, knowledgeable staff. Fast becoming one of our go-to spots!

“They made the right choice replacing the old pro shop.”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

We've been meeting and eating here since the inception of the restaurant which replaced the pro shop. In warm weather always nice to sit outdoors on the patio which sits on a hill above the golf course. Open pit fire place is a nice touch and enjoy watching the golfers as they play the last hole.

The food is always well received and tastily prepared. Prices are in line on both the food and the cocktails. Burger Days are always a favorite very tasty and great value. The onion tanglers or the herb garlic fries are the perfect accompaniment. The eyes eat first, when the food arrives you can't wait to dig in.

“Excellent food, spotty service”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

The chef at Bar North is to be commended for bringing a more adventurous menu to the Huron area. It is a treat to have meals prepared so well with more than a little attention to presentation. My husband and I have eaten here more than six times in recent months and have never been disappointed in the food. The price of a meal is what you would pay in most up scale restaurants.
Unfortunately the wait staff is more like a crew at Denny's with a couple of notable exceptions. They do not keep an eye on customers, they take orders like it's a fast food place, and clearly have not been trained on how to work in a finer restaurant including wine pouring. I actually had a barmaid tell me to "pay up" before I went to our table.
One of the biggest aggrevations, particularly for the price point of the entrees, is they do serve bread unless requested to do so. And even then they talk about how they have to bake it and it will take awhile and you might get it by the time dinner is on the table.
All in all very good place but could use some fine tuning.

“Huron's best kept secret”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

Bar North Bistro is an amazing little place that sits atop Thunderbird North Golf Course in the quaint little town of Huron. My friend and I had lunch there last week and it was simply amazing. We started off with sharing an appetizer of "Devils on Horseback" (bacon wrapped dates stuffed with brie cheese, spicy heirloom tomato chow chow). For our main entree my friend had the "Housemade Sausage Flatbread" (sausage with country fried apples, mozzarella & pesto) and I had the "Turkey Bacon Avocado Panini" (had a roasted garlic parmesan sauce, tomato and fresh greens) with "potato chowder" (1/2 sandwich and soup special.) Our bill for all of this and 2 glasses of wine-under $35. We expected to have a good lunch but WOW, our food was absolutely delicious and affordable. It goes to show you that you don't have to go to the city to get great atmosphere and a fresh and chef inspired meal. We'll be back!
