I was traveling recently and the hotel I stayed in had a Max & Erma's as the only food source/restaurant available. Seems many hotels are making this move to 'fast food chain in-house restaurants' instead of actually having a dining/room service. Many restaurants are now trying to meet the needs of those who require Gluten Free foods. Sadly, a serving of deep fried potato skins is in fact gluten free, but if you are mindful of your health at all, this would not be a choice one would make. Similarly, I asked for egg whites to be cooked with no oils/butter (I cannot tolerate those as well) as most restaurants use soybean oil, and mine came in a visible pool of grease. Staff and food service need to be mindful of what exactly contamination and unsafe products are so as not to compromise individuals' health. I ended up eating plain lettuce and brought my own tuna pack to the table...sorry to report. Can't restaurants consider healthy olive oil or pan searing in water when I patron requests such?
Gluten free and still taking my food bag with me everywhere I go.
