“Another rejuvenating stay!!”
Reviewed October 27, 2012 via mobile

Having stayed in a heritage room before this stay, I decided to try the superior room for something different. Very nice clean room.
Booked our very first spa treatment at the day spa here and my husband and I tried the hammon which is a private steam room which was absolutely fantastic. Hubby being very reluctant to do any spa treatment ended up loving the whole experience. This treatment is perfect for people who like their own spa experience as we got to apply the exfoliant and mud ourselves and then relaxed in a lovely steam room. Regret having not done this treatment on all our other visits :-) a definate "must do" if visiting the mansion.

Travelled through Melbourne with my husband and had a wonderful night stay at the Mansion. We spent the night mid week and it was just lovely and quiet. Definately reccommend a meal at Josephs restaurant and a dip in the pool if you have time. Staff will explain hotel facilites on arrival and will also give you a map to show you what to do and see while you stay. If you are short on time at least take a wonder into the historic mansion and read up on the rich history of the property. The crows may wake you up in the morning but thats what's great about this location; the country feel. Would love to have stayed in colder weather to enjoy the fire place in the library but none the less we had lovely sunshine to enjoy the gardens.

My wife recently organised a night at the Mansion for my birthday. Included in the package was a great massage at the day spa on premises (didn't go to the pool though - it was full of screaming kids, but what's new?!?), a spacious room with spa and all the amenities, a Mansion tour, entry to the open range zoo and the highlight - a three course meal at the in house restaurant.
Between the two of us we had the eel, soup, beef cheeks, cheese selection, some other desserty french sounding thing (parfaít I think) and the incredible pork belly. You could tell who had ordered the pork belly throughout the restaurant by the choir of "oooohs" and "awwws" echoing through the joint.
From what the missus said it was quite pricy but I'd definetly return the favour in the future.
Only gripe was the buffet breakfast though we were late arrivals and those with buffet breakfast experience will know that the earlier you are the better it tends to be.

It was hard to fault the property throughout the whole conference. We had approx 50 people from all over Asia at the hotel for 2-3 nights. The catering, variety of rooms and eating venues, the staff (very personal service), the cleanliness of the rooms (smallish but still nice) were all exceptional and lots of green space for relaxing and wandering in between sessions. I cant recall a venue that has received so much praise from the conference attendees, me included. The dinner we had at Shadowfax winery, a short walk away, was also exceptional.

The location is lovely and the pool is great for a relaxing swim. However, the hotel is not very accommodating or welcoming for babies! The cot is like a slab of concrete and the latest checkout they could offer (when our two day conference was finishing at 4.30pm) was 11am! Not great for feeding and sleeping purposes. Good breakfast selection.

We stayed at the Mansion for my girlfriends birthday and it was just a lovely escape.
We indulged in massages, dinner and some in house movies. The location felt like the country even though we were only 30 minutes from the city. The gardens are also just beautiful - take your time to wonder the entire grounds as it is well worth the walk.

If you are looking for a tranquil, beautiful surrounds to enjoy a weekend then this is it. Staff are friendly, professional were very attentive to our every need. Walking around the manicured grounds picture perfect, the mansion itself stunning & your stay will include a tour of the mansion either on your own or with a guide. The Spa with gym, spa treatments option, and heated pool are wonderful. We spent an hour in the pool with spa (All to ourselves at 6am, glorious) Breakfast was sumptious, every thing is fresh, tasty & plentiful. Our room was very comfortable, bed and pillows excellent. We stayed on the 3rd floor and believe this to be a quiter option than the ground floor. Vineyard with restaurant & free wine tasting was another plus, food was excellent. Joseph's restaurant also excellent situated in the hotel. Overall a wonderful weekend. We finished with a trip to the Open Plain Zoo, right next door. Enjoy!

Room Tip: 3rd floor more private and great views.
