Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: Werribee Park is a truly unique property with many stories to share. From Aboriginal communities that are known to have wandered the area, to the arrival of Scottish immigrants making their fortune in the 19th century and subsequent use as a seminary by the Catholic Church, Werribee Park offers an authentic insight into three facets of history. Step into the Mansion and experience the opulence of the 1880's whilst listening to the chatter of the Chirnside family with an audio headset tour (fee for mansion entry applies). Take a stroll to the original farmyard where rustic bluestone outbuildings provide a stark contrast to the craftsmanship of Chirnside mansion. Wander through the unique riverine, journey through the contemporary Werribee Park Sculpture Walk or stroll through 10 hectares of beautiful formal gardens and open space park land. Only 30 minutes from Melbourne, take a walk at Werribee Park, today.

The story of the Chirnsides is compelling and this stately home reflects the times. It has been beautifully preserved - don;' miss the Laundry!

“Lovely gardens and Mansion but just needs a little more TLC”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2014

Did the walking tour of the gardens and hot houses around the Mansion. We had 2 small children and they had a ball running around and playing. The gardens just need a little bit of TLC, not quite what they used to be like. Lovely place to visit.

“Fascinating look back through history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2014

Been wanting to visit the old Chirnside Mansion at Werribee for years and finally did so today. What a marvelous experience to wander through the almost 140 year old rooms and gain a sense of the life enjoyed by those who lived, slept and dined within this magnificent building and it's glorious gardens.
Compliments to all concerned on the wonderful presentation.
