Owners were super communicative and tried their best to get in touch with me when my phone reception was a bit dodgy. Room was clean. Nothing special, but there was a nice deck. We stayed in their motel-style rooms for $100 a night and got to use the shared kitchen which had a fair amount of space and pots, pans. Supermarket is a short drive away. You could hear the ocean at night. Would stay here again.

Just spent almost a week here. The cabins are clean and well appointed, including nautical theme ornaments. There are different types of accommodation; some with self-catering facilities, some more motel-like, plus parking for vans etc. The hosts are friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend it as a base to visit NW Tasmania.

We usually stay nearby but that option was booked out. We went down the coast a little and found this place. It was more like a well furnished small flat than a cabin. The "studio" had a kitchen, well equipped, a comfy bed, outdoor eating area and a view of Bass Strait. Spotlessly clean and well attended by the staff. Oh, and a pleasant eating nook as well.

Room Tip: Look around and choose.

The best kept secret on the north-west camping circuit. While the initial price per night might seem high, it has everything, is a great central base to explore the North-West tip of Tassie and is the best value for money we've found. Located on the beach in Wynyard next to the boardwalk and on the river (great fishing), 5 mins stroll from town, a pub, a coffee shop, the wharf fish and chip shop, 3 mins drive from the best pizzas at the top roundabout pub...and the list goes on. For the golf enthusiast, there's a 9-hole golf course (Wynyard) and 18 hole golf (Seabrook) within 5 mins drive from the park. There's walking and cycling paths along both sides of the river (the Inglis River), and from the Beach Retreat Tourist Park, you could easily park your car and enjoy all that Wynyard has to offer by foot or cycle.

The facilities and delights in the caravan park are amazing - from perfectly presented and daily cleaned toilets/showers (locked - each site gets an access key) including fresh flowers, waiting seat with cushions, reading material and a baby's bath, to a fully-equipped camp kitchen (separate building with kitchen sink, hot plates, pots, pans, cutlery, crockey, fridge/freezer, tables, chairs etc) with lounge chairs and TV plus christmas decorations during the festive season. The camp sites are well grassed, with concrete parking slabs, neat garden surrounds and all with water views and direct walking access to the beach just 10 metres away. There's a laundry with two coin operated washing machines and a dryer, and three clotheslines: even in the busiest periods we haven't had to line up to use anything. The added bonus for us is that the park is dog friendly, with dogs welcome in your own van and being right on the beach there are plenty of places to take your dog for long walks.

The park hosts, Graham and Cheryl, are most welcoming, helpful, engaging and hard working, presenting a caravan park that punches way above it's weight. There's also fantastic fully self contained cabins that are very homely, all with water views and good parking.

Why the park isn't full to over brimming, we can't understand. Maybe it's the highway bypass of Wynyard, making this lovely location easy to miss or maybe the park's great benefits aren't appreciated without staying. The town is well serviced (Woolworths, IGA and smaller specialilty shops, Tassie's biggest second hand shop and old Mother Hubbards which are perfect to peruse to pick up that missing camp kit item), friendly, relaxed and perfectly located as a base to explore the North-West tip of Tassie:including Stanley (and the Nut), King Island (Wynyard airport is the major air strip for Burnie, with flights to King Island and 8 flights to/fro Melbourne a day), the west coast, Arthur River, Cradle Mountain and some beautiful secluded beaches and coastal parks. The jewel in Wynard's natural crown would have to be Table Cape and if you time a visit during the tulip flowering season (October) it is simply beautiful. Also, the vintage car collection at the Wynyard Visitors Information Centre is worth a look.

Room Tip: All the sites are terrific and you really can't go wrong. The hosts encourage you to select a si...

While travelling around Tasmania we had found this place in our Loneley planet and actually booked it because of the practical location that enabled us to discover the Tasmanian north coast (including sights like Stanley and "the nut") but also to get away early enough to hike up to Cradle Mountain two days later. As Tasmanian accomodation had been qiete intermediate so far, this was a lot more than we had expected. Actually, we have never ever seen such a beautiful campsite!

Lets start with the owners. They are a lovely, friendly and absolutely helpful couple. You see them working all day in the beautiful gardens of this place to make it look nice. We had booked one of the mobile homes which was spaceous, very nicely decorated, clean and we could sit outside in the evening and watch the ocean while having dinner. It is just perfect, a place to relax from everything.

It adds to this feeling that Wynyard is incredibly pretty. It is a very cute little town with a nice beachfront where you can walk on wooden pathways. A good supermarket is also in walking distance. Don't forget to go on a penguin tour when visiting Wynyard (they have flyers in the reception). Keith goes with little groups and knows the penguins very well. He takes his time to explain everything about how they live and behave and show you around the beaches.

All in all this was the best accomodation (for a moderate price) we have found in Tasmania and I can highly recommend it!
