My husband and I stayed her for four nights and it was just perfect. We had everything we needed the studio's are tastefully done and very earthy and homely, nothing beats a warm cozy fire. The sunrises are magnificient and all from the confort of your bed upstairs. The grounds are well maintained and the night life is fantastic lots of beautiful brishtail possums, little wallabies etc. The night sky is magical took ages to find things as there is so much more to see down here than in Sydney. There are two fantastic restaurants just down the road and the food is excellent. Lots to do and see from here.

Pictures can lie - taken from a particular angle, the average can look awesome. (and vice versa). The pictures of Peppermint Ridge look awesome - and they lie. It wouldn't matter how good a photo you took, it doesn't prepare you for the amazing outlook this place offers. It doesn't prepare you for the understated attention that the hosts have poured into this dream of theirs. It is without a doubt a stunning place.
We stayed four days and it was amazing. Arriving home each afternoon to a wine on the verandah some day, and inside looking through the gallery size windows when the weather wasn't as kind. It was a pure relax.
The accommodation could fit 4-5 and would be excellent as a catchup with friends from away. A fireplace is there with heaps of wood just in case Tassie gets contrary and puts on some cold weather - and it did - and the fire quickly warmed the open plan unit.
On arrival there is hot bread baking to provide a welcoming aroma. A delonghi coffee machine, well stocked larder for the things you forget. The provodore level breakfast platters prepared are all testimony to an experience that suggests the hosts have stayed in their own B&B and then reviewed to say what would make this special.
There are a couple of quirks in the unit - pit toilet - not as unrefined as it sounds and the stairs to the loft would probably peak out parents with young kids - (a kid gate at the base of the loft stairs would remove this concern). personally I think this is a place for couples/friends who want the quiet enjoyment of their own company - that's not to say other families wouldn't enjoy it though (each to their own, and their own circumstances)
Located near the top of Woodridge Hill our unit had uninterupted views across the D'entrecastreaux channel to Bruny Island isthmus. The place is in a great location - continue over the hill down to Cygnet and the Red Velvet coffee lounge, or down the hill to Woodridge to Peppermint Bay hotel for quiet drink in the "locals bar" at the redeveloped hotel on the water. Being so well located you can take reasonably short trips and get to a variety of attractions - across to Bruny Island via Kettering which is 5 minutes away, down to Tahune, up to Hobart...the unheralded eye opener for us was the Esperance Coast rd drive, turning off at Police Point exit and coming back out at Dover. There are no shops, tourist attractions - just amazing coastal scenery and an interesting view of the salmon farms off the coast.
In summary a perfect location with all the amenities you would dream of including. Well found!

This is a wonderful location with outstanding views. The accomodation was very good - we enjoyed our stay and admired the work that went into building this eco-friendly building. I'm sure our American friends will be talking about the eco-toilet for some time to come, but we can't say it bothered us - and definitely didn't smell at all (which just goes to prove that 'ours' doesn't stink!!!)
Breakfast provisions were more than adequate and very tasty.
We tried to stay somewhere quite different each night and this quirky property certainly gave us a change from the quaint B&Bs.

Our family of 4 (children 12 and 9) spent Christmas week 2011 with 2 other couples at Peppermint Ridge Retreat. We occupied both studios. Overall, the location, quality of apartments and attentiveness of the hosts was excellent. On arrival, and upon asking where we might purchase a Christmas tree, Albe packed us all up, and we followed him to a block of land he owns down the road. There we were spoilt by choice, and with the appropriate one selected, he broke out the chainsaw, loaded up his 4WD, and hey presto a beautiful Christmas tree ready for decoration. It was most unexpected, with the kids delighted by the experience of choosing their own tree!

The 2 studios worked well for 6 adults and 2 children for the week. The lack of an oven inside was quickly overcome by innovative cooks using the BBQ's provided on the verandahs, and Christmas lunch etc went off without a hitch. The eco-friendly toilets remained a point of discussion for the rest of the week (I must say that opinions were divided - a flushing toilet became a thing of beauty to some in our party).

The studios were spacious, well equipped, with the detailed touches well catered for, like coffee maker and fresh beans, oranges for juice, and eggs from the chook pen. Location was central for exploring Hobart and the Huon Valley, if a bit hilly for walking locally. Views to die for across to Bruny Island. If in the high side studio, be prepared to immediately wear your sun glasses of a morning as the sun streams in through the main windows fronting the view.

Beds were comfortable although the stairs to the mezzazine level bedrooms can be a tricky navigational exercise at night time as you find the toilet.

Peppermint Ridge proved a central point to base ourselves for touring throughout south east Tasmania (including Hobart 30 minutes away) and when back at base, the apartments provided all we needed for a relaxing and well equipped holiday.

Given it was high season, and Christmas week, we also thought the properties were well priced as well.

Thanks to Albe and Michelle and we recommend a look.

Room Tip: The lower side apartment gets less sun in the morning which we thought preferable

We had not been to Tasmania before and we were blown away by the beauty of the place as well and the hospitality and food. We stayed at Peppermint Ridge which had evrything and more that one could wish for including breakfast supplied that actually tasted like real food. The appartmet had the msot wonderful views and was extremely peaceful. We only had two nights there but we felt completely refreshed.

A wonderful getaway

We stayed with our two young children for just one night...we wished we stayed longer. The studios were stunning with huge catherdral ceilings, wall to ceiling windows on the two front "walls" and incredible views of Bruny Island and the channel. It was so relaxing to sit with a glass of wine on the balcony after a day on the road travelling down from the east coast of Tasmania.
The studios had a everything you needed, including access to a few reasonably priced staples as well as beer and wine if you hadn't brought your own. The studios are also a great spot to base yourself before that morning ferry across to Bruny Island.

Stunning views, quirky design and great extras to keep you fed without needing to leave home. Be prepared for the 'eco friendly' toilet right near the kitchen and lounge though which means you need to keep toilet door shut as under the normal looking toilet seat is a large hole in the ground where ever bodies waste sits and decomposes. Doesn't smell but is not the most attractive feature of this otherwise beautiful spot. Bedroom is up a set of steep stairs and the bed was not all that comfy.
