“Quince and Baked Cheese Danish - Astounding!!!”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

I bought 8 cakes for a family gathering. The custard tart was real custard in a shortbread biscuit base. Huge, fresh eclairs with real cream and lashings of dark chocolate. The almond croissants were on par with those I have experienced in Europe, to die for. The strawberry cheesecake was beautifully balanced with cheese and strawberries sourced locally! The quince, which is from the Whitehouse's own orchard, in the baked cheese Danish was the most memorable desert I have experienced. A colonial wood fired bakery; an experience not to be missed.

“Asset to the local community”
Reviewed March 28, 2014 via mobile

Asset to the local community.
Savories are nice, sweets can be hit or miss. Seasoning could be more consistent. The cheese cake base was way out of proportion to the cheesecake filling. Excellent selections of breads. Wonderful use of the old traditional oven.

“Making the most of the past”
Reviewed March 14, 2014 via mobile

What a treat to have stumbled upon this truly wonderful little bakery. Wandered in for a latte and almond croissant and I think it one of the best I've ever eaten. Then got a quick tour of the real wood-fired oven (they were very busy with a festival on the green, so the baker was very nice to take time for this) and it was obvious that this is a labor of love. Couldn't help but come back later for a hot Guinness meat pie and Irish pastie...and of course a loaf of the fresh bread for tomorrow. Hours were 9 to 4 - do stop in!

“The most amazing wood fired bread, sweets and pies - don't miss this”
Reviewed March 10, 2014 via mobile

We stumbled across this place and were pleased we did. The coffee was good, the pie and vanilla slice better. In fact it was so good we made sure we came back before they closed that afternoon. We particularly recommend the cheese and spring onion bread, vanilla slice, beef pie, cauliflower and cheese pie. And if they have pecan and toffee tart buy as many as you can afford - we would have driven from launceston just for another of these...... In fact I might make another trip from Sydney for another tart

“Impressive”
Reviewed February 12, 2014

The food and coffee here were impressive and the prices only average for Tasmania.
The owners go to great lengths to source quality local and unprocessed food. What sets them apart is that it tastes great and is affordable.
They are dedicated to their business.
You will need to seek this bakery out as it is not on a main road.
The owners gave us a close-up look and demonstration of the oven as a bonus.
