Well worth a visit. Facilities fairly basic, but you come for the view. Walk is easy and can be managed by small children.

“Breathtaking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2012

The scenery is amazing. Great bush walks along well planned paths and a platform suspended to get the best views of the canyon. The picnic area is well cared for with very clean toilets and picnic tables and bar b qs

“Not to miss”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2012

Leven Canyon is located around 50km from Ulverstone. Most of the way is along country roads that can be hair pin in places. Don't let this put you off! Once you arrive at the Leven Canyon car park there is picnic areas and room for camping (plenty of parking also) The walk directly up to the canyon look out is not too far(less than 1km) and is marked on the benches that flank the track which is wide and surrounded by natural Tasmanian cold climate rain forest. (in the wet THERE WILL BE LEECHES! so stay away from the ferns and make sure you have pants and check your ankles before driving away.
The view from the look out is amazing, almost a sky view platform you can see right down to the canyon floor and up and down also. Its very high. Not for those who suffer vertigo.

On the way back down you can go the way you came. Or for the more adventurous (and fit, there are LOTS of stairs) there is a newly refurbished track that goes off to the left if looking at the platform. For those who are able i would recommend to take this way. It is beautiful. There is another section of the track that has been under construction since i have been there that goes right down to the canyon floor. If this has been completed i would advise to do this also. definately worth it.
This is a place of natural beauty that isn't too far from the usual touring route (you can connect on to Spellmans Road at Upper Castra(30km before leven canyon) and then onto Cradle Mountain Road to get to Cradle Mountain and the West Coast)

“Spectacular Views from the lookout of this Gorge”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2012

Well kept picnic area with toilet and tables and short walk to view the gorge is well worth a trip. We enjoyed lunch here after viewing Gunns Plain cave with friends and then took the short walk to view this spectacular gorge. Its amazing and you can even walk down the steps to the bottom if you are very fit.
