Swansea Holiday Park Schouten Beach
Reviewed January 8, 2014

Stayed in our own caravan at the Swansea Holiday Park on a lovely grassed site. Holiday park as powered and unpowered sites as well as cabins.
Out our "back door" was the start of a walking track around the heads. Saw a seal in the bay and an elephant fish. Picturesque Freycinet was just over the bay - almost close enough to touch.
Amenities in the park were very clean and tidy. Day was a little too cold for a dip in the pool. Children's playground suitable for young ones.

The beach at Swansea is not as attractive as others with white sand further north on the east coast, but the track into town which goes around the golf course right next to the sea is worth a walk. The track itself has a long Aboriginal name which unfortunately I have not memorised, but if you google Wellington Point Walk, Swansea, it will probably come up. The friendly owner recommends the walk when she gives you an area map on check-in. It is very easily accessed from this park.
When I was there in early December there were only about 4 cars in the whole park so it was very kind of the owner to offer a cheaper cabin. (See below for a slight negative though.)
It was easy to sleep in this quiet park and town at that time of year but a downside is that if you are running short of supplies the supermarket closes early.

Room Tip: If you think rates are too high when the park is not full, ask if the manager's cottage is avail...

$35 for a powered site, very overpriced for what you get. Park is small and facilities desperately need attention. Such a shame, as Swansea is a quiet little sea side town. Would have stayed longer if park was in better condition.

Swansea holiday park, is what it is a Cabin park nothing more nothing less, only problem this place could be very noisy when full, and an ashtray outside the rooms could have been helpful cabins are a little out dated and are in need of refurbishment. owners were hospitable enough.even though we stayed only one night the surrounding area of the cabins is very scenic.

When we arrived at the office to ask about a night, the staff seemed totally unprepared for visitors. She was pleasant enough but seemed to have her mind elsewhere. The cabin was small, locale was pleasant, but at off season price for $99 we have had far better accomodation elsewhere in Tassie for the same or even less money.

Stayed 2 nights in a tent .If you are looking for a peaceful night look elsewhere. There are a number of shacky type permanent vans on site .Owners use these of a weekend ,and do their utmost to make as much noise as they wish with absolutely no disregard to others. These are not young people but old boguns. The management were no where to be seen to control this,a real disappointment

We needed a one night stop over on the trip from Launceston down to Hobart on the east coast of Tasmania. The Swansea Holiday Park provided just what we needed. Very relaxed, awesome scenery within 5 minutes walk and somewhere local to have a relaxing drink before returning to a well-appointed, clean, self-contained cabin. If we needed a couple of days or more, or indeed, if we were from Hobart with a family, it would have provided a good low cost holiday venue. Trying to log onto the Wi-Fi by having to sit on the cabin verandah with the computer was problematic, but the proprietor gladly returned the small fee Wi-Fi fee and I am sure we didn't need those emails anyway.
