“Just like home”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

On a long trip you often look forward to a night away from restaurant meals and look forward to a good home cooked meal. The place was full and with a warm fire on a cold night was the perfect end to a play "The ship that never was" and a day visiting Strahan (even without the train!)

“Food, glorious food”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

On recommendation from Trip Advisor reviewers we ventured to this restaurant , it was a delight , the food was homely and delicious , the staff were so helpful , happy and nothing was any trouble .
A cold and rainy night , log fire burning and the main man in the coloured pyjamas taking the orders and making everyone feel welcome was a very memorable night and highly recommend .

“Cosy, homey and yummy”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

Bushman's is a good option for a meal in Strahan if you don't want to go upmarket but want more than takeaway. Not terrifically cheap but reasonable considering how isolated Strahan is.
We had dinner on our last night there after checking out what was on the menu (it changes daily) and finding they were serving roast pork (among about 6-8 mains). It was packed when we arrived about 6.30pm, including quite a few locals having a drink in the bar corner. Everyone is very friendly there. We found the last table and ordered orast pork, which was really yummy with a range of veggies. Not as good as our own roast pork but pretty good. Cost was about $23 each. I had some dessert which was a fabulous apple crumble with cream and icecream as well. It's a cosy little place with some comfy chairs as well and serves dessert and coffee all day, as well as lunch. The people that we sat next to at dinner had all their meals there as they stayed upstairs in the guest house and they said it was all terrific. Other menu choices were favourites such as lasagne, rissoles and mash, beef casserole etc. I am told that their cheesecake is also fantastic. I would definitely recommend Bushman's for a casual meal in Strahan.

“Great food and value for money”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

We'd been very disappointed (read DISGUSTED!) with our restaurant choice in Strahan on the previous night, but took a chance on the Bushman's Bar & Cafe. What a difference. The place was absolutely buzzing (maybe just a bit too noisy for old codgers like us) but the staff were very obliging and fitted us in without a reservation. We enjoyed a really excellent home-style meal and a bottle of wine - for almost exactly half what we had paid elsewhere for a really horrible meal the night before. Top marks for the Bushman's!!!
