Food here is OK and staff are quite pleasant. Prices are way above value for money and the options are also overpriced. Feels like tourists are seen as fair game suckers in Strahan.

We stayed in Strahan for two nights. The first night we had dinner at Hamers. Four people, four poor dinners! The snapper was rubber (fishing village and no fresh fish but processed rubbish, but did receive a refund. Asked for a well done stake but was pink inside and the smashed mash was yuck. Ceaser salad leaves were huge as chief didn't take to cut into smaller pieces. The Huon mushrooms weren't cooked correctly as they fell apart when cutting them.

Pass and try somewhere else, just not the fish, chips and pizza place a few places further down.

Ordered paella came out like a risotto tomato based like a jar of dolmio sauce had been stired through, I ordered steak medium rate with what they called smashed potatoes, (that meant over boiled chats and multigrain mustard stired through) discusting and was like leather would deff not recommend it

We arrived Sunday evening and this was the only place we could find open.[ We were staying at Strahan Harbour Cottages.]
The menu was not overly attractive and there was nothing special about the restaurant, but the food was very expensive. My wife had the fillet steak which appeared on a bed of preconstituted potato with a spoonful of spinach, I had some sort of pie which was a lot cheaper and probably a lot better, although the steak itself was great.Taking into account the cost of drinks and food this cafe was nothing to rave about and that was our first and last meal there.
There are plenty of staff in the dining room

We wanted to dine at Risby Cove but they were full, so we went back to the Esplanade and chose Hamers instead. Service was friendly and reasonably fast. The food itself is above average (3.5 stars) and portions are generous. The menu isn't very extensive, I wished there were more choices.
