On entering our accommodation, my partner and i felt like we were back visiting Grandma's house. We stayed in the largest of the buildings and although a little dust and cobwebs were present, it still had a wonderful atmosphere and was very adequate for all our needs. A full sized kitchen, dining area, lounge room, bathroom and bedroom, made this a wonderful choice. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't have the glitz and glitter of the new apartments, but it has fabulous old age character and the most amazing location and view of most places we've stayed in. The heater wasn't very strong but there is an electric blanket on the most comfortable bed i've slept on.

Stayed in cabin no 3, was a bit smelly on arrival, stayed 4 nights and it improved with some aerosol. Views and privacy are excellent, very quiet at night, cabin had all the facilities needed BUT has reached its 'use by date'
Agree with another post - the deck is ready to quietly fall away- be careful!

The place is a bit run down. The cabin deck is small and needs repairs, railing would break if you leaned against it and it is a fair drop below into scrub. The peace and quiet is lovely and the view spectacular. The outdoor table tops are broken and not attached to bottom of table, out door chairs are plastic and would break easily. The towels are thread bare, the hand towel was thin and ragged. We arrived and there was a full cigarette bucket left on the deck. Why smokers think we have to clean up after them, I do not know. very basic kitchen, no matching plates knives or forks, all from op shop I am sure. Sheets were thin and blanket, very old and stiff, toilet and shower very small. It is the smallest cabin you can get, like in camping grounds. It has only a double bed. It is not far out of town about 4km. A bit of TLC would make this cabin great, attention to detail is very poor. But again the view is spectacular. No I would not stay her again. We stayed 3 nights at $90.00 per night.

Room Tip: Offer to pay cash and they may do a deal. Go to Bushman's bar and café, for inexpensive food.

I stayed at the wilderness Lodge and it suited me very well. I loved the private view over the water, the path through the dense scrub leading to little lookout.
The facilities were clean and I had everything I needed~ comfy bed, window onto the garden, writing table...
Host Brian served breakfast. The sign of a good lodging is surely that jams are delivered in glass pots rather than sachets and toast is presented in a silver rack.
The travelers all remarked on how they appreciated the old charm attention to detail and the nice 'feel' of the place.
It may be out of town but it is quiet and pretty, which is what I like.

We had a lovely stay here, the decor is old, but with charm and character. The bathroom in our room was brand new and lovely. The room was very clean. Breakkie, simple and yum and spoilt with a lovely view. Great price. Thanks Brian!

The carpets, wallpaper, doors (and some door knobs) in the lodge are from a bygone era, but so is the good, old-fashioned hospitality shown by Brian. Some would say it is old, others would say it has character and charm. Given it is immaculately clean...we opted for the latter. The common dining and lounge area has a sunny aspect and the electric blanket and bar heater in our room ensured we were cosy warm at night. It's a few kilometers out of town, but most people visiting Strahan have their own vehicle so we didn't see that as a drawback. At $80 per room per night during peak tourist season with two bathrooms to share amongst just five rooms...this is a terrific option if you would prefer spending your money on other things (like the crayfish we had for dinner) rather than accommodation.

Good value for price, very clean, old furniture and lots of privacy. Good views. 5 minutes from the centre of Strahan. Every thing you need is provided. We stayed in 3a and it was obviously the largest of the cabins. Cabins set out apart so total privacy obtained
