“Gordon River Cruise on Lady Jane Franklin”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

Although in the past we have travelled to other parts of Tasmania this was our first trip to Strahan. We booked a Gordon River Cruise and was pleasantly surprised on what it had to offer. We loved the trip to Sarah Island and meandering through the world heritage sights. The captain and crew were very friendly and the cruise was very enjoyable. This is one of the things you must do if you are in Strahan. We also went on the wilderness railway and enjoyed the luxury. It took us back to an era of steam engines and trains. We loved Strahn. It is a laid back town and everyone went about their business as if they had all the time in the world.

One thing we did not find in Strahan was fresh fish. It was supposed to be a fishing village. Krishna and LC

the only way to do this is to pay the extra $$ and go upstairs to the captain's upper premium deck = full service, morning + arvo tea and lunch. great tour to sarah island included. wonderful service, friendly staff. avoid window seats if poss (if sunny). if you go to tassie - this is a MUST!

“Lady Jane Franklin. Gordon River Cruise.”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

Having already been on this cruise some years ago aboard the previous vessel to the current one, I knew I was'nt going to be dissapointed. I was imediately impressed by the friendly crew who welcomed us aboard. The ship was modern only being a few years old, very clean comfortable and well presented. There was a well stocked kiosk aboard catering for all possible needs during our cruise. There was a well stocked bar with reasonably priced beer and wine available as well a the usual snacks. The commentary by the skipper was well recieved by all the passangers for the information it contained and the humourous way it way conveyed.
The lunch which was included in the price of the cruise, was of excellent quality and quantity and was well above what I was expecting. The cruise on the Gordon River itself was beautiful and our stop at Sarah Island was a highlight, with very well rehearsed guides keeping us entertained throughout out tour of this Penal Settlement. All in all the day was magnificent and not to be missed if you intend to visit Strahan. The price might put a few people off, but I think it was worth it, giving you the chance to see world heritage rainforest in comfort, with the added bonus of the history of Sarah Island and the Penal System.

“Captains Deck is the only way to travel on this amazing boat.”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

a perfect day, clear skies, calm seas and fabulous crew to provide everything you could possibly need. Free flowing wines, coffees, hot chocolates, fabulous food, what more could you ask for? The reason we were actually there - World heritage listed wilderness, fabulous scenery, history lessons. AMAZING
