We recently spent one night at Tall Timbers following a friends recommendation. We broke the trip from Hobart by spending a night in Launceston on the way, but wished we had travelled the extra and had two nights at Tall Timbers.

We had booked the $99 winter special, and were a little hesitant about what to expect, however we were pleasantly surprised.

Check-in was prompt and hassle free, and the gentleman at Reception was very welcoming and efficient, and gave us detailed directions to our cabin.

Our cabin was spacious, modern and spotlessly clean. Nice bathroom with shower, toilet, vanity, hairdryer and toiletries. Both beds (1 x queen, 1 x single) both had electric blankets which was nice, but they were both quite hard and uncomfortable. Room was warm and well appointed. TV reception was not great, with only a couple of stations to choose from, however this wasn't a big deal.

The heated indoor pool and spa were awesome! We spent a lot of time in and around the pool, and was unique to look out the big glass windows to paddocks of grazing cows. There was also a well-equipped gym and change rooms in the same building.

We enjoyed a delivious dinner in the restaurant, with all our meals cooked & served perfectly. It was a little expensive, however there were plenty of menu options to choose from. Full buffet breakfast was also nice, and around $18 per person.

On site bottle shop was well stocked and reasonably priced.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and will definately return. All the staff we encountered was friendly, warm and polite, and are a great asset to this hotel.

Hi Newhinson,
Thanks for your review of the property. We are glad to hear you enjoyed the stay.
The hot winter special you mentioned was a success for us in winter with a few hesitant guests like yourself they were also impressed with the property.

Our reception staff are always encouraged to deliver great service and information as guests arrive as it is often the first point of contact guests will have with the hotel so we are pleased you valued this warm welcome.

Sounds like you were happy with most parts of your accommodation you were staying in. Beds in hotels are always a personal preference and hard to find a perfect match for all guests. Thanks for your comment and I am sorry to hear that you did not find them very comfortable. Regarding the television reception the North-West coast of Tasmania is still waiting on digital television which will hopefully resolve all reception issues here at Tall Timbers. The digital changeover is meant to happen in the very near future and when this is done the business will also be updating the televisions in the standard rooms like what you stayed in. Glad this wasn't a big deal for you during your stay with us, I would encourage you to let us know upon check-out if there were any issues which detracted from your stay with us.

I am excited to hear you really enjoyed the experience in the pool area; we also believe the pool and gym facilities are superb. We really pride ourselves on this and how well-maintained the modern facilities are with the stunning views as mentioned by you.

We are pleased you enjoyed the meal in the bistro and all meals were cooked and served perfectly. As you stated some of the items on the menu are expensive however the menu is designed for both a high end market whilst also having the cheaper options available. As the business serves fresh local produce and aims to reflect fine Tasmanian foods some of the prices will be higher but the food served is well worth the prices. The bistro is an award-winning dining facility which reflects the high standards expected from customers and delivered by our exceptional staff.

We are glad you overall enjoyed your stay with us and are pleased to hear you would visit again. It is nice for us to know you enjoyed all services provided and the friendly staff also enhanced the experience for you. Thanks again for the feedback and happy travels in the future.

Regards
Sophie

We stayed here one night only in early September on our way own the Western Explorer to Strahan - The room (Cabin) was near new, roomy and economical - The restaurant is in the adjacent hotel and whilst most meals were a touch on the expensive side there was plenty of variety and we a choice of more economical options - We chose soup & pizza - The soup was a meal in itself and both very enjoyable.

This would be a good base for exploring NW Tasmania and we would be happy to recommend to fellow travellers

Room Tip: All rooms & cabins are off Highway and appear to be very similar

Booked, not expecting much for $200 for the night. WOW....my mistake. We had a 2 bedroom (+2 bathroom cabin) lakeside cabin which was sensational. Kitchen and lounge facilities which we did not need as the dining facilities were great. We arrived to pouring rain and propped in our cabin for the afternoon, then went to dinner early. The only downside was that we woke to no water as there was a burst main during the night. We had to be on the road reasonably early but were delayed, hoping the water would come back on. Needed a shower but soldiered on without. It did delay out trip somewhat, but we got a free breakfast in compensation.

Room Tip: Lake view rooms require a walk to the Restaurant/Sports Bar. The room itself was great, but take a brolly if it's raining. If you don't like ducks, don't book lakeside!

After the daily grind of work we were in need of a weekend away just the two of us so after a quick internet search we diecided that Tall Timbers Smithton was the choice .
We had heard good things about this establishment from other people and friends that had stayed here which made the choice easy and after a very wet drive out to smithton ( about 1 1/2 hours ) we had arrived .
Easy to find as the road signs were all clearly marked and after checking in which was easily done without any fuss we were shown where our unit on the lake was , although it was a bit of a maze to drive around we eventualy found the right one and it was every thing that we had expected and more , the unit was very large and offered all the mod cons that you would expect from a 5 star withan out standing view over the small man made lake via a private balcony ( very nice ) and a huge bathroom , after settling in we made our way over to the restuarant for tea and were pleasantly supprized by the size and design from the vaulted ceilings to the way everything was done in timber ( Very Impressive ) .
The food was exellent and severed in a very timely manner although breakfast was a bit of a dissapointment with the options only being fairly limited .
All in all Tall Timbers represents a great place for a weekend escape or that short getaway and is centrally located to take advantage of the local attractions at a very good price .

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the lake
