We visited the Wool Centre when we arrived in Ross- a lovely little village in the middle of Tassie!
As we were looking for a cottage, we sort the advice from the staff at the Wool Centre.
(Liz , a very lovely lady who was so helpful!)
There is a selection of cottages, and we chose 'Stone Cottage" which is situated in the main street, Church Street- very central to everything.
As we have 2 children, Stone Cottage was terrific! The kids watched DVD's provided especially for kids- we sat in front of the log fire with a glass of wine- after ordering an excellent meal from our hosts, Steve & Val!
Curried Chicken, Sherry Trifle and the kids had Spaghetti Bolognaise and Apple Crumble- reasonably priced and delivered to our door at 6.00pm.
Stone Cottage is large- 3 bedrooms, TV room, lounge room, sun room, large kitchen and a beautifully maintained yard- the kids loved running about!
The price was also so realistic- it cost us $110 for the night ( extra for the meals- but there was so much left over from dinner- we ate the remainder on toast for breakfast!
We loved Ross- and will plan on visiting Stone Cottage again- this time to stay for a week!

Driving through Ross we decided to visit this attraction.
There are a number of rooms set up - shop, museum and displays with short movies to watch. All very well done indeed.
The shop stocked local knitted goods at very reasonable prices along with other souvenirs and products of the area.
Stop off and have a look then walk a short way up the hill to the Wood Centre where there are all types of wooden goods to view and purchase.
We wandered down the very pretty main street and wandered into the shops there.
However we were most disappointed with the Ross Bakery, the pie was sent back as it was dry and hard!! The replacement one was not much better...
