My husband is a history buff, the rest of the family, not so much...but we went along to Port Arthur anyway and I am so glad we did. The grounds and where it's located are just beautiful, even the drive from Hobart to Port Arthur was enjoyable, viewing the Tassie coastline along the way, very picturesque! Port Arthur itself had such interesting stories to tell and even the kids were interested to hear about the convicts and why they were there. We paid the extra $20 to get off onto the Isle of the dead which was also very interesting and I recommend this if you have time. All in all, it was a nice day and we left with an appreciation of how hard life was in those times and what they endured!
