This is the best place to stay as a family. Everything here is as you would want it aside from a slightly high price due to excellent location.

Would stay here again. BtW my parents stayed down the road at the motel and they definitely got the short straw!

I recently organised accommodation for our large family group at the Port Arthur Villas
We had 17 in our group, from babies to grand parents and everyone in between so our room requirements were varied.

I phoned Wally at the villas to check availability and get a costing and from that very first call he was amazing.
Wally offered and then organised everything from the bed configurations of the villas to booking a table for us at the Fox and Hound pub for a meal, he also arranged and purchased all our tickets for the ghost tour and into the historic site the next day.
I was amazed and very grateful he went to so much trouble to make my job eerier and I didn't have to worry about a thing.

We arrived at the villas at about 4.30pm after a very long day that had started at 5am at the other end of the state.
Wally had everything ready for us, all our rooms were perfect, all the tickets were in the reception the heating was on in each villa and the 2 baby's cots made up as well.
He even went to the trouble of emailing me a map to the villas and a map of the villas with all our names next to each one, this made it very easy when we arrived.

We had 6 out of the 9 villas and all of us were impressed by the high standard of rooms, the villas were warm, spacious, comfortable and extremely clean
The living areas were large each with a huge dining table, plenty of lounge seating, large screen TV, fully equipped kitchen complete with dishwasher, extremely comfortable beds and pillows, spacious bathroom with plenty of fluffy towels.

We appreciated all the little extra such as the folder of historical information in each villa containing and the story of a different convict in each one and the free travel paper and brochures.
The location of the villas is fantastic as its right across the road from the historic site, 5 minutes to the shops and is situated in a lovely garden, plenty of room to park and has a huge undercover BBQ area for guests to use.

I would highly recommend the Port Arthur Villas for either a long or short stay, its great value for money, you wont be dissapointed.

Room Tip: All villas are private, warm and large

Living only 1.5 hours away, we decided to have a spur of the moment weekend away exploring the Tasman Peninsula where there is sooo much more to see than just the Port Arthur Historic Site (seriously you could spend a week here). After a full and tiring day the check in was happy and friendly, the room was beyond expectations with a full kitchen (you can save some bucks on dinner and breakfast) and the sleep quality supurb. This is an ideal place for any traveller, very close to the Port Arthur site (maybe not walking distance if you are doing a ghost tour), but only a couple of minutes drive. The Villa's grounds are well kept with plenty of room for the kids to run around, plus a few friendly animals, there is an undercover BBQ area, laundry, satelite tv and no doubt heaps we didn't notice. Probably only a four star establishment, but the price range and quality for what you get makes it a solid FIVE without the hype.

A friend and I shared a two bedroom apartment for one night which was warm and comfy in midwinter Port Arthur. There was a brief electricity black-out (a not uncommon occurrence in the country) and the owner appeared promptly at our door to reassure us. I accidentally destroyed a towel which the owner was very nice about - he charge me a small fee to replace it and I felt it was much less than he might have charged. I would definitely stay here again, and perhaps next time take advantage of the entry gate to the historical site.

Room Tip: I imagine all the rooms are good. It is a long, low building in a quiet area.

We only stayed one night, but were very pleased with our brief stay. Wally was very welcoming and helpful. He booked our tickets for entry to the Historic Site on our behalf and provided us with a key for entry through a side gate to save taking the car. He even provided a torch for the walk home in the dark after the Ghost Tour. The unit was clean and well equipped. We would happily stay there again if ever we come back to Port Arthur.

Room Tip: Book your Historic Site tour through Wally - doesn't cost any more but gives you side access to...

Neat and tidy 2 bed motel style accommodation for the family close to the historic site.

The unit was very clean with very precise instructions on how everything worked and which TV channels you can get. A small mini bar is available and a grassed play area for younger kids.

The big plus is that you can walk between this accommodation and the historic site, about 5-10 mins to the historic site visitor center through a side gate and down a path away from the road.
