“Making our WILDest dreams come true!!”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

We had been told this is the best restaurant in Tassie and we were not disappointed! The staff went beyond our expectations in providing outstanding service, despite being very busy, and the food was second to none. The duck was without a doubt the nicest duck dish I've ever had - and I've had a LOT of duck dishes. We were pleasantly surprised by the bowl of delicious complimentary vegetables served as a side, particularly as we are used to paying about $10 a plate for sides in Sydney. My husband also said that the dessert he had (a crumble of some sort) was his favourite... ever. The passing freight train was a surprise but, surprisingly, did not detract from the relaxed atmosphere created by the friendly staff and cruisy music. If you are visiting Tasmania, put Wild on your must-do list.

“going WILD at Wild”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

our local, great food, fantastic service, always busy - same great food and service night after night - you won't be disappointed - love the Pork Belly, the Soft Shell Crab, everything really, but book, don't think you can walk in, it's defintely the most respected restaurant in North West Tasmania.

“Small town restaurant that delivers a sophisticated, "Big City" experience”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

We live near this cafe and consider it a boon to the small town of Penguin. It's a point of much local pride for resident foodies, as the menu showcases the freshest local produce and quality gourmet ingredients with a distinctive focus on New Australian / Asian fusion dishes. Suffice it to say that the food is delicious, but the presentation of the dishes is also a feast for the eyes, done beautifully, with a Zen-like devotion to visual appeal and simplicity. We always take out of town guests there and smile when they express their surprise at just how ambitious this little place is--and moreover, how it exceeds the expectations of most visitors, even jaded out of towners from Melbourne and Sydney (and overseas). Many kudos to owner/managers Jackie and Chef Dave.

“what's that rumble ?”
Reviewed December 5, 2012

been here twice before ... might be losing its mojo .. major distraction was a close-by table of cashed-up bogans who ducked out very few minutes for a smoke .. coming back reeking .. spoilt the delicate aromas & flavors coming thru ...a shame .Highlight of night is when the freight train rumbles past ..1 metre outside the window ...adds more ambience than the intrusive muzak

“Surprising in Penguin”
Reviewed November 16, 2012 via mobile

Fantastic Asian inspired menu, lots to choose from. All the meals I saw looked amazing and of course I had what appeared to be the only 'dud' choice - the crispy pork belly. It had a very thick top of really flabby and soft skin, not crispy at all, horrible. Everything else was brilliant though and would definitely go back. Good wine list. Attentive and friendly service. Fun Friday night atmosphere with perfect lighting and therefore great for our romantic dinner for two.
