“Mt Field is OK, but go further”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2014

The walk around Russell Falls was good, and the park is well set up with a modern visitor centre, cafe, etc. I wasn't expecting anything like that.

Do yourself a big favour, once you've seen done these walks, keep driving west until you get to the end of the road at Gordon Dam. It is some of the best scenery in Tasmania and worth the drive.

“We love this place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2014

Everything about Russell Falls is fantastic. The Falls themselves are so beautiful. We sat and watched them for ages. The short walk from the visitor centre (which has an excellent cafe) is also an extremely enjoyable experience. A very easy track with amazing tall trees as well as wonderful mossy undergrowth. Lots of pademelons and possums in the evening. Hard to see the glow-worms along the track, due to the moon and other people walking past with torches, but easy to see them inside a huge old tree that was cut down 50+ years ago. One of the nights we were here, we had a very entertaining and knowledgeable park ranger guide a group of about 18 of us on a spotlight walk. Don't miss this if you have the opportunity - we wouldn't have seen the quolls without his expertise.

“Great place to visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2014

National park with easy walking trails to enjoy. Small entry fee which includes the maps to enjoy the park. The Falls are only about a 20 minute walk which is quite easy then follow on up to Lady Barron Falls which is a circuit of about two hours. The forest is quite beautiful and many photo opportunities present. Constant bird life above and beautiful trees, rushing creeks and this makes a wonderful stroll through this remarkable park.

“Russell Falls & the Tall Trees Walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2014

It is a day trip away from Hobart, well worth a visit. The park has an excellent visitor centre with knowledgable staff. Their are lots of walks to do from the centre, the best is to Russell Falls and the Tall Trees.

“By far the best water falls I have seen”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2014

Mt Field has a fantastic walkway system with Russell Falls being a short 20 minute walk up a few steps and has a spectacular view from the top.
From Russell Falls you can visit Horseshoe Falls in a 30-minute walk or The Lady Barron Falls circuit (via Russell Falls and Horseshoe Falls) is approximately two hours return.
One of the best water falls I have seen in my many travels. Hope for lots of water
