“Beautiful”
Reviewed November 6, 2013

Many of the views in Tasmania's national parks require fairly significant walks to reach them. Not so Russell Falls in the Mt Field National Park. It is a comfortable hour drive from Hobart and very easy 15 minute stroll from the car park. The Falls themselves are quite beautiful and the walk gives you a taste of the Tassie rain forest. This is well worth the effort.

“Mount Field national park”
Reviewed November 6, 2013

Beautiful forest, we did a few bush walks through the Mount Field National Park, like the loop to the Russel falls,Horseshoe,Lady Barron Falls etc.
From here we travelled to the East coast to the Frecynet National park. Another stunning natural beauty.
The only downside of those national park is another proof of Australian Ipocrisy. They charge 24$(per car including 2 people) for entering the walks in the national parks. All with the "excuse"of salvaguarding the nature and protecting flora and fauna. I'd say it's nothing but a clear massive speculation on what leet's don't forget:belongs to mather nature! I visited many other national parks in other countries and never faced such a high charge to appreaciate the local marvels of nature. Yet, in my opinion the natural sites are nice as they are,I find very annoying all the steps and walkways that they keep building, they just spoil the whole contest!
Another big thumbs down for Australia in this respect!

“Take the time to walk the Tall Trees too”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

Wow! Russell Falls cannot be captured in words or photos. Just do it. We spent an extra couple hours hiking the loop trail that includes Horseshoe and Lady Barron Falls as well. Well-maintained trails with stairs with chicken wire for traction in this moist rainforest environment. The Tall Trees loop is part of our longer hike but can be done separately. This park is about an hour away from Hobart. We combined it with the Bonorong Wildlife Centre for a great Sunday spent outside in less than ideal weather.

“Easy walk and good view”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

The view is not fantastic, but since it is an easy 20 minutes walk you have nothing to lose. On the way, you will's get to see some really tall trees as well.

There are some of these tall tress that got cut down (for safety reason) or fall down naturally, and form some thing like a cave that could fit a 6 foot tall man.

It was cold when we went, better to wear waterproof jacket or you might get wet.

If i remember correctly, Russell Falls is about 1/3 the height of Montezuma Falls.

If you like waterfalls and don't like to walk too much, this is a place to go.
