“Exceptionally good value, atmospheric B&B”
Reviewed December 17, 2011

It was a pleasure to stay at this guesthouse which is located in a well maintained heritage building with large surrounding garden. Huge room, very clean, well furnished, port and fudge included! Very atmospheric in the sleepy town of Mole Creek. Our host was very welcoming and accommodating even with our last minute arrival. The breakfast, however, sealed the deal - homemade fruit compote + granola then any of about 15 different hot dishes (think something like poached eggs, smoked salmon, sourdough + fresh berry smoothie). The stated purpose on the breakfast menu was to make you "full, so you won't have to eat again until dinner!" We paid $150 for two people, December 2011, midweek, called to book on the day.

I passed through Mole Creek in September 2000 en route to Deloraine where we stayed, and fell in love with the countryside vowing to return someday and spend some time exploring the many, many interesting and picturesque attractions the Western Tiers area offers. I didn't know about the now famous Mole Creek Guesthouse at that time.

On my return to Mole Creek (driving directly down from the ferry at Devonport) I found that
Tripadvisor had certainly put me on the "right Track" when 99.99 reviews unanimously recommend Mole Creek Guesthouse as five stars Number One!

Every positive review you read about it is accurate - this guesthouse is packed with interesting and aesthetic features and character inside and out.

Paul and Laurie are so welcoming. and hospitable. MCGH is lovingly cared for with many thoughtful touches such as a basket of apples near the door to take on one's walk!
The bedrooms are so cosy and beautifully decorated and the culinary skills displayed by Laurie in the cafe (we ate there for hearty breakfast included and dinner) enticed us back for our evening meals!

Trout and a platypus inhabit the stream which flows through the gorgeous garden surrounding the house and there are beautiful views and walks to be had from this perfect haven! We shall return!!!

Room Tip: I loved enchanting Alice's room with its two adjoining bedrooms, tea making facilities and littl...

This perfect hideaway guest house carries heaps of surprises. From the lovely colourful gardens which supply daily fresh flowers throughout the guesthouse to the hidden talents of a wonderful hostess with her culinary delights. Meals are scrumptious and huge helpings are always presented with flair. A breakfast that gives you the choice of numerous selections that always tantalise your tastebuds and are guaranteed to give you that good start to your day. Our room was quaint, complete with a teddy bear greeting us. A gift of homemade cookies and fudge were presented daily in our room, a very lovely thought indeed. Our room, Cuddlepie Corner was cosy and very comfortable and bright. Our compliments must go to the owner and hostess Laurie Rose, who together with lovely friendly helpful staff made our stay the best on our recent trip to Tasmania.

Really loved this little place. Great base for exploring the area. Lots of charm. We stayed in the wallow room and it was spotless clean and lots of room with the separate living area. The garden is gorgeous with the stream running through and very peaceful to sit with a book. We had dinner at the cafe that night and it was great. Nice not to have to drive somewhere for dinner. Breakfast was great the next morning with cold and hot available. Can highly recommend this place. We explored the caves which were only a 10 min drive away. They were excellent. Make sure you do both as they are different.

A newspaper brief highlighted a French-themed weekend with a special cooking segment run by a well-known chef, so we booked. The food and accommodation were both lovely, and when we returned home, we felt as though we'd been away 'for ages'. We also visited the honey place at Chudleigh, and 41 Degrees (for beautiful smoked fish) and a Ginseng spice mix (amazing). The restaurant has light-weight window coverings so make sure you have heavy-duty winter clothes for dinner/breakfast. The fire was superb, but gave the usual result - a hot front and a cold back (or vice versa). Excellent range of DVDs for viewing in a separate 'movie room'.

Room Tip: Room 5 has a comfortable sitting room, separate from the bedroom and bathroom.

This little place was amazing! Originally I just wanted to find somewhere on my way for a budget stay, but out of my surprise, they provide outstanding food and services. It was the cheapest room in my trip, but the food and room decorations was in my top two ranking!

I stayed at Honeymoon Room and CuddlePie Corner with my family. The rooms were in warm color, decorated with lovely bears and romantic patterns. The corridor was stylish and artistic, as there were beautiful pictures and plants everywhere. There was a common room and movie room, providing a relaxing atmosphere with comfortable sofas, huge teddy bears and real wood heater. It's an ideal place for family holiday.

The biggest surprise was the food. I had dinner and breakfast there. The food quality was like hotel, and was even better than the resort I stayed earlier. The room fees already included breakfast, so I thought that was a continental one like milk and cereals only. However it turned out that we could choose any food from the full breakfast menu, as long as we were enough! We ordered pan cakes, muffins, omelette, muggaccino, smoothies... etc. Just like having a breakfast buffet!! We could feel that each of the dishes was cooked by the owners with a warm heart.

Also there was a stunning secret garden behind the guest house. I took a lot of beautiful pictures there!! I will definitely stay there for longer ( and will get fatter :P) if i visit Tassie again!!
