“The best guest house experience I've ever had”
Reviewed April 15, 2011

Mole Creek Guest House was a treasure in a very small charming village. It is perfectly positioned as a stop off on the way to Cradle Mountain and is surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscape. Other visitors spent a day on a 5 hour walk at the Walls of Jerusalem and made Mole Creek Guest House their base. We spent a day at the Hollybank Treetops Adventure (it took about 1hr20mins to get there) for a fantastic experience on flying foxes zipping from tree to tree 50 metres above the ground. The Guest House itself is so clean and homely, we were extremely comfortable and I had the best night's sleep, particularly after the sensational meal I had in the restaurant. Laurie Berry runs the guest house and the cafe/ restaurant and her hight standards would compete favorably with any top restaurant.

Having stayed at the Guest House during a previous trip to Tasmania, I was determined to take my husband there. We stayed for two nights on our way to Cradle Mountain and had a wonderful time.

Laurie and Paul make it such a lovely experience. As other reviewers have said, the bedrooms are lovely as are the gardens - but it is the little touches that make the difference. The home made chocolate cookies ready and waiting after a long day walking in the national parks and visiting the caves. The port in the room to help you digest your excellent dinner in the restaurant. The invitation to help yourself to extra towels if you need them and the teddy bear on the bed!

The breakfasts were also great - cooked as you like it and a wonderful stewed fruit salad and muesli. I know the owners are looking to move on but I hope they are still there when we go back as I am sure we shall.

We were looking for a place to spend a quiet weekend and Mole Creek Guest House ticked all the boxes. Laurie and Paul have created a little haven: the garden is delightful and inviting, a perfect spot to sit in the sun and read for a while; the rooms are thoughtfully decorated and equipped for comfort; there is a lounge for self-serve tea or coffee or watching TV; there is a large room dedicated to watching DVD's, of which there is a large selection. The real jewel in the crown however is the restaurant; the meals are superb with fresh, local ingredients cooked with flair and skill and served with care and attention. Everything we tried during our stay was fabulous, including the coffee! Laurie and Paul are excellent hosts, friendly and informative. As well, it is within easy driving of Cradle Mountain and numerous natural attractions, making it a great base for exploring the area. We wholeheartedly recommend a visit!

I stayed two nights with a tour group consisting of 7 German clients. We booked all the available rooms as well as dinner on the two nights. The rooms incl ensuites were spacious and very comfortable - just perfect for us. My clients greatly enjoyed the beautiful gardens. Dinner was excellent. Particular mention, though, deserves the breakfast - by far the best and most generous of all accommodations where we stayed on our 3-week trip in Tasmania (and we stayed in some very good places!). My clients were BIG breakfast eaters, and even BIGGER coffee drinkers, and the hosts catered to every whim. Copious amounts of coffees of any style, and an impressive choice of breakfast from the menu - and this in addition to already served muesli, home-made preserved fruit, and lots of youghurt. I hope to return for a private stay some time soon....

This was a real place to stay while exploring a fabulous part of Tasmania. The rooms were roomy, quiet and fully stocked. The restaurant was one of the best places we ate in Tasmania and very accommodating to dietary requirements. The grounds are spectacular. Fresh flowers everywhere. The host and hostess were friendly, interesting and helpful as to the area. Highly recommend staying here.

We had a great stay at Mole Creek Guest House - arrived about 7pm and Paul & Laurie were very welcoming in showing us our rooms and cooking up a scrumptious dinner - had the steak with mushroom sauce which was delicious! WIfe had a bite and straight away knew she wanted to order it the next night!! She also loved the strawberry smoothie.

The guest house and rooms are well kept and we enjoyed our stay, even if you do get the odd noisy truck passing through early in the morning. Was a great base from which to explore Cradle Mountain and surrounding region (After enjoying a hearty breakfast in the morning!) .... there's free wi-fi and a movie room with projector and sound system to check out at night. All in all really good value and recommend it to everyone travelling in that area.
