“Lilydale Larder could try harder”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

Had a meal there with friends who had been before. The meal was nice but nothing special. Looked very ordinary on the plate as it was chicken with bacon and served with mashed potatoes. Needed some veges. The other couple said this time was not as good as before. They serve Leaning Church wines which are nice but expensive for such a basic meal. The have done a lot of work on the building but the walls are painted white and it looks very bland and was cold in the room, no ambiance.
The Larder is great for Lilydale and we will continue to support it but they push themselves as being Tasmanian and gourmet and sell nice local jams etc but it is all a bit expensive for the local area. Tourists may pay the prices asked but I don't think locals will. I do hope they work it out though as Lilydale needs people like this to push the boundaries and keep business in the town.

“Cafe and small Tassie produce shop”
Reviewed February 12, 2013

Nothing too special, they had a small shop selling various Tasmanian food products, as well as some brochures, and a cafe/bakery with a reasonable selection of foods. I stopped here but didn't buy anything. The privately run hardware store and petrol station just up the road and on the other side had fuel at a cheaper price than anywhere in Launceston city.
