About 20 years ago we had to cancel a booking here and promised ourselves that one day we would get there, we got there in Feb 2014 and enjoyed every moment. Lovely unit with floor to ceiling window through which we enjoyed a lovely view and the moonlight coming in at night. The 3 breakfasts Jenny cooked for us were very enjoyable. Lunch at the Lilydale Larder adds to the enjoyment of staying at Plovers Ridge.

So pleased you made it here, Syd, after all that time. Your unit, Celery Top, had been out of action for a couple of months while the bathroom was being renovated and you were one of our first guests since its completion. You may be interested to know that Lilydale Larder is now offering Friday night dinners in front of a roaring fire or of course dinner is available here at Plovers served in front of your own private fire. We hope it's not another 20 years before you visit again.

Fabulous views from a quaint wooden cottage! The breakfasts cooked by Jennie were spectacular. We were delighted by the hosts care and concern for me when I was 'under the weather' for a day!
Diana enjoyed the peace and quiet after travelling around Australia for 3 months - BLISS!

I guess you and Diana are now back home in U.K., fully recharged after travelling around Australia for so long. It is indeed a big country but we hope you will always remember our little patch of Tasmania.

Plovers Ridge Country Retreat was beautiful. It was very peaceful out of Launceston, and not too far to drive. We had booked the CeleryTop Studio but the room looked like pictures of the Myrtle Cottage. Either way it was a lovely room and had a lovely aspect over the countryside. We pre-arranged a dinner for the night we arrived (a long 9hrs of travelling) and we weren't disappointed. It was delicious as well as being good value.

Yes Kirsty, it was necessary to switch your booking to Myrtle Cottage as completion of the bathroom renovations in Celery Top were delayed - apologies for not having mentioned that. I'm very pleased you were able to relax over dinner after such a long day. With such an extended twilight here in Tasmania you would have hopefully still been able to enjoy the view while dining. Myrtle particularly is a dinner and breakfast experience as it's dining nook is so intimate with the view.

Perched on a hillside surrounded by lovely sprawling gardens you will feel like you are the only people there. When, in fact, there are other guests on the property.

The official website is full of photos featuring the beauty of the property, and we weren't disappointed. One day in December the fog didn't lift until 3pm. It was cold, misty and magical.

We stayed in Leatherwood Cottage. The furnishings are definitely retro, but very comfortable. We chose this cottage as it had a full kitchen which we wanted to use to cook up some fantastic fresh Tassie produce. However, after eating the wonderful breakfasts cooked by Jeni and Pete I'm thinking we should have indulged in one of their dinners. Perhaps next time....

The kitchen was well equipped, although a few more food staples would help make it a little easier for those that do like to cook.

There are some lovely walks on the property and I'd highly recommend taking advantage of them there is always something new to see. And it's fantastic if you are after some photos of Tassie countryside.

Plovers Ridge is a great base for seeing things around Launceston, but it is also very close to many tourist attractions. Lilydale is a quaint little town known as the town of painted poles. We even saw people painting the poles as we drove in. The grocery store is incredibly well stocked and has a lot of local produce. Lilydale falls are small but worth the 15 minute walk through the bush. Just down the road is the Leaning Church winery with a wonderful cafe and very nice wines. Driving north of Lilydale there are many more wineries to be found as well as the Bridestowe lavender farm. Jeni and Pete can also give you tips on less well known things to see in the area - so do ask.

We only stayed 3 nights. But could easily have spent more time there. Pete and Jeni are the perfect hosts always making sure you are comfortable and yet giving you space to enjoy time to soak up the views. It's perfect for couples, families and pretty much anyone that wants warm Tassie hospitality in the peace and beauty of the countryside.

As a family with two boys aged 10 and 11 we stayed at Plovers Ridge 3 nights and it was definitively the best stay during our trip trough Tasmania. We should have stayed longer, but we didn’t know that this is a hidden gem in Tasmania. We stayed at the Leatherwood cottage which is a fully furnished accommodation with 2 bedrooms, laundry, big kitchen and last but not least a wonderful terrace with spectacular views. We were amazed by the peace and quietness: this is the most perfect getaway and B&B that we had during our 7 week trip trough Australia. And here you feel the Tassie spirit at its best! It is the perfect place to relax. The views are just gorgeous, the grounds and laws are lovely and the breakfast is excellent. Trough the whole propriety you feel the love for the little details and the devotion of the owners Jeni and Pete. The breakfast is excellent with fresh fruits and eggs that change every day. Jeni and Pete are lovely hosts and they made us feel at home very far away from our home in Switzerland and this means a lot to us. Plovers Ridge is just 20 minutes from Launceston and if you need some beach, Bridport is 1 hour drive. Lilydale is a charming little town. They have a nice pool for families (a bigger one is in Scottsdale). We visited the Bridestowe lavender farm and the Hollybank Treetops Adventure which is a lot of fun for the kids. The Cataract Gorge & First Basin in Launceston is worth a trip with the kids. In Scottsdale we can recommend the Cottage bakery and in Launceston Levee food for dinner waterside. When you are in Tasmania, don’t miss the excellent hospitality of Jeni and Pete at Plovers Ridge!

Had an excellent time here. Two boys had a great time with chilli, the deaf dog - used this as a base between Launceston and Bridport as Bridport was fully booked, but this turned out to be just as pleasant, with the beaches only a half an hour drive away. Acommodation was very homely - great stereo and kitchen facilities. All in all one of the best places we have stayed in Tas.
