Description: Home Hill Winery is a boutique vineyard and restaurant situated in the picturesque Huon Valley, just 30 minutes south of Hobart. With award-winning wines, and a menu full of delicious local and Tasmanian produce, Home Hill has been a popular destination for locals and tourists alike for over 15 years. The vineyard was planted in 1992 with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sylvaner grapes. The grey loam, high-clay soil and reliable rainfall provide excellent growing conditions for these varieties with the wines winning multiple awards including the prestigious 'Jimmy Watson Trophy' for the 2014 Kelly's Reserve Pinot Noir, amongst other accolades. Home Hill is the perfect location for lunch, your next event or function, weddings, or just to pop in for a wine tasting.

“Brief visit on way back to Hobart”
Reviewed August 9, 2014 via mobile

Dropped in for a wine tasting. The building very interesting. I love rammed earth buildings.

Wine was excellent and staff very helpful. We left with a couple of bottles under our arms.

“Restuarant not as good as a previous visit, wine though is very good!”
Reviewed August 9, 2014

We called in to purchase some wine, after tasting two of the wines we made our mind up which to purchase. When you have a wine tasting one is offered the wine list and you are able to choose 4 of the wines to taste. The wines here are very good.

We decided to stay for afternoon tea we both ordered coffee and choose a fig pudding with cardamom syrup and mascarpone cream (we did ask if we could have ice-cream instead of the cream), the ice-cream was cinnamon . The ice-cream was the hero of this dish the fig pudding was light and tasty. Unfortunately the cappuccinos were average in taste, having said that though we have in the past had good cappuccinos here .
On the way out as we were paying our bill we noticed an A4 laminated sign which indicated that an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is located on site, interestingly this notice was not in clear view and was not the standard AED logo.
There is also an area just before going into the restaurant where you can purchase woollen items which include, hats, jumpers, scarves, gloves and the most amazingly soft blankets /throws. Other items for sale include preserves.
The drive from Hobart to Home Hill is just over half an hour, signage to the winery is very good.

“One of the best...”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

One of the bonuses of living in Hobart is accessibility to good Winery restaurants, and under half an hour scenic drive south of Hobart you will find one of the best. Located in the fertile Huon Valley, Home Hill sits calmly and serenely in its countryside location, not just because of its location but helped by the fact that the building comes straight from the earth it sits on. Of modern mud brick construction complimented with large expansive glass walls, whether you choose to sit inside or on the terrace you are always a part of the scenery. There is no "bad" table in this restaurant! Have dined here many times over the years and have never walked away unsatisfied with the meal - and no doubt over that time there would have been a variety of chefs but they have kept their standards high. Last but not least their wines are pretty damn good too!

“75th Wedding Anniversary”
Reviewed June 11, 2014

Booked for a party of 18 at 12noon for 12.30pm for a very special occasion. We finally received our meals at 2.30pm with my brother receiving his at 3.00 just in time to take home!To top it off, the manager (or owner - not sure) knew another brother & his wife, brought them a glass of wine and sat at the end of the table chatting. Didn't give a toss about the occasion, the rest of the table not being served. Would definitely not recommend this venue for a large party unless you book out the whole restaurant.
