“In the tree tops!”

Great little walk for those that don't mind been up in the air looking down at the forest floor. We took mainland visitors and they were amazed just as we were the first time we visited. The Swinging Bridges walk was also great to do.

“Close encounter with the rainforest”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

The Tahune Airwalk Tasmania is a fabulous walkway suspended some 40 meters in the air over the rainforest tree canopy. Even though we have done the tree canopy chair lift in Costa Rica, and the tree top zip line in South Africa, this was a completely new experience, and offered fantastic photo opportunities. The Swinging Bridges walk is also well worth doing. You get to cross two rivers: Huon and Picton.

“Worthwhile experience”
Reviewed January 18, 2013

We had a great day here. The actual airwalk is pretty pricey for what it is but if you take the time to do the swinging bridges and the eagle handglide it is definately a worthwhile visit. We had coffee and cake in the cafe then walked the airwalk, swinging bridges then the handglide. Overall it was a great day out.

“Pricey walk in the trees!”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

As previous reviews have said this attraction is a long way from Hobart, at the counter we paid and were not asked if we were eligible for any discounts and it was only when I asked that indeed we were eligible for a $5.00 discount, having said that $50.00 for two people is very expensive, seeing that it really is about Tasman Forests and that tourists should be encouraged to visit these areas of Tasmania.

After payment, there was no one to check our tickets and it seemed quite possible to just enter without paying. The walk is good, but on the day we were there it was very crowded and you did not get to enjoy the peace amongst the trees. A far better option is the walk though the Huon pines which was very enjoyable.

There is also another walk on the way there at one of the picnic stops which is fabulous, don't remember the name but it is fairly obvious on the drive to the air walk.

“Lovely river”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

The Tahune Forest Airwalk is in a beautiful location deep in the forests of the upper Huon River. The elevated walkway is good but probably a bit over-priced. The real star is the river itself - dark, fast flowing cold water which displays rich tannin staining along it's shallows. There are several well signposted short walks on both sides of the river and you can cross over via either a concrete bridge or two swinging bridges. The on site cafe was surprisingly cheap and provided good food in a picturesque location above the bridge. The site is well worth the 90min drive from Hobart and the scenic walks are free if you don't want to pay $25 pp for the actual Airwalk. Enjoy!
