Allan and Margaret, their dog Jessie and cat Barney were wonderful hosts at their sleek modern house right on the beach. Margaret is a terrific gourmet cook, using the best local produce in an original way. Even though we arrived late, without telling them we'd be staying in for dinner, they were cheefully accommodating, producing a wonderful spread of delicacies for $40 per person. Breakfast was just as good. They are a mine of information on the 'insider' places to see in Freycinet, and jolly good company as well (though there are plenty of private areas for guests to hang out if they don't feel sociable).

Alan and Margaret have a beautiful spot in Cole's Bay and do a wonderful job of sharing it and their expertise with guests.

We loved sleeping with the windows open and hearing the sound of the waves and the wind.

The rooms are comfortable and spotless and the bathroom nicely done.

The breakfast was fabulous - great selection of quality products deliciously prepared.

They provided lots of information to enhance our visit on the way to and from Cole's Bay.

We really appreciated their offer to include some of our things in with the household laundry.

We stayed in Ar lan y mor, the smallest of the 4 properties owned by Sheoaks. The booking process on email was simple, and we had a good deal for winter of 3 nights for the price of 2.

The house is comfy and a good heater made it quite warm. Cooking facilities are good enough (electric stove, microwave and utensils) and good fridge. Recommend buying your supermarket groceries prior to Coles Bay as it is very expensive there.

The shower is great, and bathroom clean. There is even a BBQ under the house with a full gas bottle which was a nice surprise.

The location is excellent, only 3 minutes to Coles Bay shops and 6 minutes to Freycinet National Park.

We did have a problem with the fuse blowing and all electricity going out but this was quickly solved by resetting the fuse at the fuse box.

For the 3 nights for 2 special deal (so totalling $100 AUD per night) this property is excellent. If you had to pay full price of $150 per night, it is probably not good value.

Sheoaks is tucked away in a suburban sub-division, but right above the coast about 4 km north of Cole's Bay township.

It is modern, beautifully equipped and provides a comfortable and very pleasant stay. The view over the she oaks to the sea and sunsets is wonderfully serene.

The owners are very pro-active in providing "Pre-stay" touring guidelines, some of their own creation.

We stayed for 2 nights at the 2 bedroom self contained Ar lan y mor cottage and found it to be very comfy and spacious. The bedrooms were clean, as was the bathroom. A folder was left in the lounge room with brochures of things to do and places to see, maps etc. Very handy. The kitchen was stocked with utensils etc and even had basic kitchen uses such as oil, salt, pepper, tomato sauce etc. The only problem we had was finding which key to open the door. The owners gave us a bunch of keys, colour coded, and explained in the folder but it didnt seem to work! We figured out that we could open the back door, not the front door. Overall, good value for the price as we were sharing between 4 people and it is only a few minutes drive to Coles Bay town (which really is just a few stores and not many places to eat, so having a kitchen is handy). Also helps to stock up at the supermarket before getting there as Coles Bay has a small convenience store and its very expensive!

We stayed at Sheoaks for 2 nights in January, 2007. (Summer!)

It's not your typical B&B, it's sleek and clean and ultramodern, not a cutesy Victorian. The house was purpose built as a home plus a 3 bedroom B&B. It's very, very ecologically minded, they are trying hard to be kind to the local environment as well as comfortable for travelers.

The gourmet breakfasts were outstanding and the owners were very helpful in giving advise about what to do in that area of Tasmania. It's a 5 minute drive into Cole's Bay, and a few more minutes to Freycinet National Park. You'll want to do the hike to Wineglass Bay, definately worth the effort.

Beautiful views from the windows, comfortable guest lounge with all the amenities. Our room was not made up overnight, we never did get that explained. The owners did some of my laundry for me, couldn't have been any nicer about it.

Our host, Alan, said that Sheoaks won the award for best B&B in Tasmania. Hmmm, I don't know if I would go that far, but it is a very lovely place.
